One Plus One Equals Five

Chapter 1:Twilight Town

The newest work from Chrnoskitty! And a co-writer! AkuRoku, SoraRiku.

The usual spot. That's where they were, the four of them-Hayner,Pence,Olette. Roxas. The introverted blonde. Something always seemed to be bothering him, he didn't seem to say much... much words. His face held it all. And when he did speak, well, he spoke of what would have left an adolescant psychiatrrist reeling. Dreams, weird ones.

Suddenly the blonde looked up, then out at the tattery mauve curtain that separated their hangout from the rest of Twilight Town. "Stay," He said, grabbing a struggle bat that had been laying on the floor as he darted through the curtain and onto the street.

Hayner, Pence, and Olette all exchanged glances, then went back to the matter at hand. Roxas had pulled this stunt on them more and more frequently as the summer vacation neared to a close. He'd be back in an hour or two, they figured. What they did not know, was that he wouldn't be returning from his venture, not this time.

Axel smirked, it could only be described as cat-like. And disturbing. He laughed, twirling his chakrams in each hand effortlessly, little tongues of flame licking at the resistant gloves and metal.

The chains on his organization coat clinked together ominously, a slight breeze ruffling his firey red hair.

It amused Axel to see that the organization hadn't sent any nobodies-generic ones, that is, to the town. After all, there was that rumour of the very strong-willed nobody residing in this simulated town. How it had gotten there Axel had no idea, but he did know that SaŃ—x and Xemnas had said something about it being a nobody without a heartless. Did that mean that it posessed a "heart"?

Ha! As if! Nobodies were nothing-born of the empty vessel left behind when a heartless was created. No heart. No body. Nothing. Twelve nothings, nobodies, made up Organization XIII. The nobody in this town would be their thirteenth member-- Man, why'd he always get stuck with the icky missions?

He could hear footsteps now, they were coming from the area that he had seen four kids dissapear into from his vantage spot atop a high roof, earlier in the day. The footsteps were hesitant, noisely quiet in their intent. It made Axel smirk to think what the approaching person would do if they rounded the corner, only to see the smoldering ashes of the synthetic town's ruins. As gradually as they had started, the footseps stopped, and Axel could swear that the person was planning on jumping out at him from behind one of the buildings.

Axel waited.

And waited.

Tapping his foot impatiently he called out. "Oh, c'mon now there," he said in his charismatic, sarcasm-laced drawling voice. "We can't play if you're just going to hide all day." That was definitley not the truth, as Axel could have burnt the town, the inhabitants, and called it 'playing'.

However, he couldn't risk the fact that this person might be the nobody he was searching for. Tsk Tsk Tsk, to him if he got rid of it-- Though he doubted it'd be as simple as getting rid of the humans and heartless that had blocked the Organization's path so many times before.

Roxas stepped forward, maintaining a defensive stance with the struggle bat as he did. "What do you want?" he asked, his voice wavering slightly. Hey, it wasn't every day you ran into some crazy looking with some weird wheel-like weapons at his sides.

"Nothing," Axel said, smirking as he strode towards Roxas. This was going to be an easier mission than they had thought. Heck-Demyx probably could have even pulled it off. Probably... Probably not. "You're coming with me," Axel said, putting his hand to the wall behind Roxas, shrouding them in an oval-esque formation of tendrils of darkness. The doorway to Darkness. Leading to the Organization's stronghold: Castle Oblivion, in The World That Never Was.
