This is a birthday present for one of my friends on myspace. She got me into Castle so I decided to do a Castle fic for her birthday. Characters may seem out of character - pay in mind the UK hasn't screened Castle yet. I only watched the episodes online.
A Surprise for Kate
Kate Beckett had just this minute finished work. Today was her birthday and not only did it seem that her colleagues had forgotten but some of her close friends had too. Lanie didn't even say much when she went to visit her earlier as part of the case that she was working on. Kate was slightly miffed at this as Lanie was the closest thing to family that she had.
Even Richard Castle didn't say anything when he came into her work to shadow her for a while. He was writing yet another Nikki Heat novel and apparently she was his muse and inspiration for the works. Sighing Kate made her way into her car and drove home. She was just going to get there and have a relaxing bath and she was going to reflect on her not so happy birthday
On getting to her home something seemed out of place. Kate parked her car silently outisde the apartment where she lived and switched off the headlights before she silently made her way towards the door with her gun hidden ready to strike out at those that she thought were inside. On getting to the door she noticed it was locked so she sighed a quiet sigh of relief and opened the door before closing it and putting the keys on the little side table near the entrance. She then made her way towards the bathroom which was in fact through the living room. As she stepped into the living room she heard;
"SURPRISE!!!" Kate was stood with a shocked expression on her face as some of her close friends were already in her apartment. She was stunned to say the least as she took in the birthday decorations adorning her walls. She then looked into the eyes of a teenages who was digging her elbow into her dad's side and not so subtly saying;
"Dad instead of staring at her like she's a piece of meat go and talk to her."
Kate smirked at that - thinking to herself go Alexis. In truth only Lanie and Alexis knew how she felt about Richard Castle and she was glad she had the approval of the daughter of said Castle. She then watched as Richard made his way over to her as the melody of their favourite song started playing throughout the room. Smiling he offered;
"May I have this dance." before he took a slight bow and lead Kate onto the makeshift dancefloor. In her mind Kate had already forgiven her friends and some of her colleagues for making her think that her birthday was forgotten. Kate was a happy person as she danced in the arms of the man she secretly loved and laughed as he whispered; "You can have your present later."
