Prologue
The winds blew the heather on the moor. Featherwing was with her apprentice, Eveningpaw walking to the moonpool. They dipped their heads as they passed a SnowClan patrol. "What do I say when I meet my warrior ancestors?" Eveningpaw gazed up anxiously. "Just act normally, don't act foolish." Featherwing replied sternly. As they passed, the winds grew stronger. Eveningpaw's pelt was ruffled. They see the glimmering moonlight that shone through the water. "Remember, be respectful when you meet your warrior ancestors." Featherwing meowed softly. Eveningpaw slips into sleep. She looks around as sees her mother, Moonshade. "Greetings, Eveningpaw." Moonshade meowed. The StarClan cat eyes shone with pride. "Why did you leave so soon…?" Eveningpaw murmured. "StarClan thought it was my time to join them." She shrugged. Moonshade began to fade. "One of your kits will leave the clan, to find what she thought." Moonshade whispered. Eveningpaw looked stunned. "Wait! What is that supposed to mean?" Moonshade voice barely hearable. "You will find out soon, my beloved." Featherwing meowed "Eveningpaw, let's go." Eveningpaw got up, and scurried after her mentor. As they reached PawClan territory. A PawClan patrol appeared. "Thank StarClan, we thought you were a SnowClan patrol!" Fuzzyfeather said with relief. As they entered camp. Snowstar called. "All cats old enough to hunt their own prey may here my words!" Clusters of cats scurried to high rock. "Eveningpaw do you uphold the warrior code with the cost of your life?" Snowstar meowed. "I do." Eveningpaw mewed. "Then by the power of StarClan I give you your warrior name, Eveningskies!" Eveningskies licked Snowstar's shoulder and went to sit for her warrior vigil. The cold breeze ruffled Eveningskies's sleek fur. After her warrior vigil, she padded into camp, her tail still sticking straight up. Everybody greeted her and yowled her name with joy! Fuzzyfeather looked at her with deep respect. Eveningskies thought "Maybe he doesn't think I'm some troublesome kit anymore." Her father Eaglebranch looked at her with love and sympathy because Moonshade wasn't here to watch her become a warrior.
