And the Fortune Cookie Trails Behind
Fortune cookies were a graduation from chocolate. Sort of.
Well, they were chocolate flavoured (with the traditional sesame and miso as well). And he was after the cookies more than the fortunes. But the wrappers were right there so he may as well read them. And they wouldn't hurt…right?
A beautiful, smart, and loving person will be coming into your life.
He sighed. That fortune was a little on the late side. Or a lot on the late side rather. He wanted an idea of how the date would go, not about the girl he had the date with. After all, he already know she was the most beautiful, smartest and most loving person in the universe (which was rather small by teenage standards but he wasn't fussed about that technicality). That was why he'd asked her out to begin with. And chased after her like an idiot before that.
Luckily, he grew up before he fumbled the chance. And she accepted.
But it could still be a total disaster.
And the fortune cookies weren't helping. Though the chocolate was.
He reached for another…but there weren't that many. I should save some for Izumi, he thought.
And she came before he changed his mind. And happily nibbled on a cookie. 'You make them?' she asked, mouth full. 'They're not usually chocolate flavoured.'
He shook his head. 'Store brought. I've got fortune-less cookies in the oven though.'
She clapped her hands together. 'Ooh, really?' He nodded; he'd known she'd be pleased. 'Looking forward to them.' She grinned, before she read the fortune.
A pleasant surprise is waiting for you.
'Too late,' she laughed. 'Unless you're hiding a cake as well?'
He shook his head. Those fortune cookies really were behind in the game.
