Two of a Kind – And yet so different

Sam walked from the room as the General ordered the Colonel to destroy the mirror. It was the end and he had kissed her, me. I can't shake that, he had a pure look of love on his face and it was hard for her to accept the fact that it was almost like it had been hidden for a long time. She changed into her civvies and almost ran to the elevator, she had to get away. She heard heavy footsteps following her down the hall. She stepped into the elevator to see the Colonel running after her, full of desperation. A tear fell from her face as the elevator doors closed and barred the Colonel just before he could reach her. The walk out of the mountain seemed longer than usual, when she finally saw her bike at the end of the parking lot she almost jumped at it. She paced over when she heard the Colonels footsteps echoed along the tunnel, he was the last person she wanted to see. She slid on her helmet as she reached her bike, climbed onto it and drove away as fast as she could. The Colonel's heart sank and he almost abandoned her there and then.

Tears were streaming down Sam's face as she drove through the rain to her house; she pulled up on the abandoned drive and took the keys out of the ignition. She took a moment to wipe the tears that had made it even harder to see in the rain and stepped off of her bike. Instead of going inside she threw her helmet across the wet grass and sat on the ground, leaning against her bike. The rain quickly soaked her to the bone and got steadily worse. Sam's tears were mirroring what was happening around her, she sobbed and sobbed. She didn't even know why she was.

As Jack turned the corner onto Sam's street, he saw her on the ground. He panicked for a moment but relaxed when he noted the way she was sat. The rain was pounding against her body and it looked extremely painful. Jack pondered what had made her stay in the rain like this but remembered how she reacted back on base. He stopped his truck before she noticed who it was. Now parked on the corner of her street, Jack slowly walked along the pavement in the freezing rain. It stung as it hit your skin and then made your whole body go numb, he had no idea how she could have stood it for so long. She looked as if she had been sat there for half an hour. He saw Sam look up in his direction, she wasn't mad. She was crying. She stood up and ran for her house, hoping that she wouldn't have to see him. He caught her just before she got to the door; she was struggling against his hold.

"Carter, what's wrong?" He asked; his voice low and husky. She immediately stopped struggling while her tears streamed openly from her face.

"Why did you do it?" She asked him, hopeful about what his answer would be. She was staring in his eyes as her hair stuck to her cheek underneath his palm.

"I honestly don't know." And he truly didn't have any idea. "She's not you Sam, I just wish she was." His sight wandered to her lips as he spoke, they looked the same but he knew they weren't. He took her hand held onto it steadfastly, not letting anything break them apart.

Sam didn't say anything but leant up to meet his lips. The kiss started off light but soon they were sharing in a deep and passionate kiss. It filled all of their needs and it was exactly what they needed.
