What if…Sully came back? Post 100th episode, but before the season finale.

Booth was happy. They'd had a good week, solved a five year old murder and given a girl's parents some peace. Booth felt accomplished, like he was doing some good in the world, even if the world wasn't always good to him. His relationship with Bones had been a bit jagged lately. On the outside, things looked fine between them, seemed as if nothing had ever happened. But, it was the small things that mattered.

For example, it had been two months since he had told her that he wanted to give their relationship a shot and, unfortunately, gotten turned down. And in those months he had not set foot in her apartment. Before, the incident had happened, he would eat dinner with her at least once a week at her place. It was a small thing that no one would notice, except if you were overanalyzing the situation, as Booth often did.

He had tried dating, but it didn't do much for him. He had gone out with a woman he met on a case, Catherine, a couple of times. She was great, confident, attractive and ambitious. Bones even said that she had a great bone-structure, her version of a compliment. However, he was pretty sure she wouldn't call him again. Three nights ago, she had tried to kiss him, he freaked out hugged her instead. It was a stupid thing to do, he knew, but in his panic, he had decided that he couldn't kiss her. After all, the last woman he had kissed was Bones, and something about that felt sacred.

It was sad and he knew it all too well. He loved Bones but she didn't love him back. And now, as if just to spite him, she was dating Hacker, his boss's boss. She said it was nothing serious, but he saw the way he looked at her. To Bones, it may be casual, but Hacker was falling, hard. He often wondered if they'd slept together. He usually came to the conclusion that they had, because Bones was very…..well…open about sex.

Sometimes he considered asking her, but all he could see was her laughing at him. He knew she would never do it, but the fear of humiliation got the better of him.

"Hello? Booth? Anyone in that house?" Bones said, snapping him out of his train of thought.

"Its, Anyone home? Bones. Anyone home?" Booth replied matter-of-factly

"Well that doesn't make sense. How I am supposed to know if there is anyone in my home? And whose home are you referring to, yours or mine?" She said

"It's just a saying Bones. It's not necessarily supposed to make sense." I said, tired of arguing. We had also been doing a lot more of that since the incident.

"Well that's just idiotic." She whispered.

"Are you calling me an idiot Bones?" I nearly shouted.

"I was merely commenting on the absurdity of the saying Booth." She replied, quite rationally.

"Oh so now I'm absurd?" I shouted.

"Booth you're being incredibly oversensitive." She said back

I opened my mouth to spit out some lame answer and got interrupted by a familiar voice,

"Well I see not much has changed here. Sorry if I'm interrupting something." Said the voice.

"No you weren't interrupting anything." I said to the voice before looking up to see who it belonged to.

"Sully!" Brennan shouted, nearly leaping into his arms.
