There's a grief that can't be spoken.
Halt looked down at the grave. Another person taken before their time, trying to save him. Sometimes life couldn't be fair.
'But why? He didn't deserve this!' Halt cried suddenly and fell to his knees.
'That's the way that it works sometimes,' Pauline said from beside him.
A cold draft swept over the grounds, causing many leaves to be carried for a distance.
'Would you count him as a hero?' Crowley said coming up behind Halt.
'Why wouldn't I?' Halt replied bitterly. 'And I let him die! He could have done things that could have made him a legend and he isn't able to because I stopped watching for one moment and he was killed!'
'You were forced to! You were bloody unconscious from blood loss yourself. How were you expected to continue looking after him?' Crowley asked and then his eyes narrowed as he saw Pauline look at her husband and frown.
'You were knocked unconscious?' she asked Halt. He met her eyes before nodding and then looked away again.
'If I had been awake!' Halt cried.
'But you weren't and there is nothing now that can change what happened!' Pauline cried and pulled Halt to his feet. 'You have to accept what has happened. Alyss needs help the same as you do and if she sees you in this state, it is only going to make her own acceptance of this all harder!'
Crowley nodded at her words and whistled his horse over.
'I have nearly lost all my my family, Pauline,' Halt said. In desperation, he grabbed her shoulders roughly and held on as though she was his life line, and she was at that point in time.
'Don't leave me. Ever!' he told her, crying.
She remained silent as there was no way that she could promise something like that.
I was just wondering who here goes in Wattpad. Most of my friends have recommended it to me but...
Meh.
It took me ages, but I finally went on it for the first time the other day and then decided that it was stupid and that her is a lot better and easier to work around. :)
