You Don't Know Me
The song I used in this one is called 'Boston' by Augustana. So no suing a poor high school boy, okay? (-_-) Anyways, this is just a random Shay / Emily songfic I had an urge to write. Enjoy! ~ Jake
I sat down in front of the piano, cracked my knuckles and began to play softly. My fingers seemed to flow smoothly and naturally over the keys. I began to sing in a quiet voice, lost completely in the words.
In the light of the sun
Is there anyone? Oh, it has begun
Oh dear, you look so lost
Your eyes are red, the tears are shed
This world you must have crossed, you said…
I closed my eyes, a feeling of calmness coming over me. The tempo picked up slowly but I never lost the rhythm.
..You don't know me
And you don't even care, oh yeah
And you said you don't know me
And you don't wear my chains, oh yeah…
Emily walked in silently, then leaned against the doorframe, looking a bit awed. I gave her a smile and gestured with my head for her to sit beside me. The brunette immediately found the place I was at and picked up on it. I watched as she played with quick, practised hands. Her light, angelic voice blended with mine so perfectly.
Essential yet appealed
You carry all your thoughts across an open field
Where flowers gaze at you
They're not the only ones who cry when they see you
You said you don't know me
And you don't even care, oh yeah
Well you said you don't know me
And you don't wear my chains, oh yeah…
Emily winked at me and continued singing. I almost laughed at how cute she looked. I leaned closer to her on the bench and worked the foot petals. We both reached the high point of the song with grins plastered on our faces.
She said I think I'll go to Boston
I think I'll start a new life
I think I'll start it over
Where no one knows my name
I'll get out of California
I'm tired of the weather
I think I'll get a lover
And fly 'em out to Spain, oh yeah
She laughed and nudged me in the ribs with her elbow. Somehow, I managed to keep playing well. Emily was by far better than me. Guitars were more my scene.
And I think I'll go to Boston
I think that I was tired
I think I need a new town
To leave this all behind
I think I need a sunrise
I'm tired of sunset
I hear it's nice in the summer
Some snow would be nice, oh yeah
You don't know me
And you don't even care, oh yeah
The tempo slowed again; this time I let her do the main riff solo. I shifted my weight on the bench and watched her hit all the right keys with perfect accuracy. It amazed me how good she was.
Boston, where no one knows my name
Where no one knows my name
Where no one knows my name, yeah
Boston, where no one knows my name…
"You're very good," I declared with deep admiration.
She smiled proudly. "I know I am. You have the guitar skills, while I have this…" Emily brushed her fingers along the keys lovingly.
I nodded in agreement. "And instead of going to Boston…We're going to Miami." I told her, serene.
"Why Miami?" Emily blinked. "Couldn't we go live on some deserted tropical island?"
"I don't think there are shopping malls on deserted islands."
"Ohhh, yeah." She blushed as I tried but failed to hold back my laughter.
"Shuddup, dork." Smack!
"Owww…"
