I've seen other people do these 100 word pieces so thought I would have a go: I quite enjoyed the challenge of writing something coherent in so few words.
This is an idea that I had that might fit into a longer piece of work, but I don't know what right now, so I thought I'd get some of the ideas out.
John tucked them in at night. They were too old for a story and cookie; he too far away to throw over a blanket or close a window on the night's unexpected chill.
Instead John wrapped his brothers – older and younger – in the stillness of silent airwaves: a world of souls safe. His gentle glowing presence was a nightlight that chased away the nightmares of failure. When sleep was hard to come by he played a lullaby of joy and thanks from those they rescued. He watched over them sleeping soundly cocooned in the reassurance of his ever watchful gaze.
