Just a poem about a crush.

More Than Sleep

When I saw your smiling face,

As you walked down the spiral staircase,

I nearly tripped over my feet,

Giddy that we could finally meet.

More than the stars of the shining moon,

I think of you as I lay in my room,

The endless small minutes drift by,

While the broad wings of time fly.

I close my eyes to get some rest,

Until I feel a fluttering in my chest,

I thought I heard your delicate voice whisper in my ear,

Then realize it was only a nightingale that I hear.

It seems that I cannot relax,

So I stare out the window at sidewalk cracks.

When sleep finally welcomes me,

In my dreams, your green eyes are all I see.

And so another night passes,

Without much slumber I head off to classes.

The lack of sleep may not be worthwhile,

Until I doze off and wake to your smile.
