One Mistake

This just popped into my mind and I had to get it out, or else my brain would never let me forget it. This is my first One Shot so I hope you like it, please R&R

"This... Wrecker Will Not Obey My Command!" Ultra Magnus said pointing to WheelJack and facing Optimus Prime. They had just gotten back from a hunt that had not gone as completely planned, according to Ultra Magnus.

"Well if you weren't so stubborn and slow on decisions, I might actually decide to listen to you for once!" WheelJack protested back to the Wrecker leader.

"Whether you like it or not, you have to obey my command!" His leader said now facing him completely.

"Obeying you would be like sighing my death certificate!" Ultra Magnus stepped back fumbled until he remembered what the wrecker meant.

"Your not still mad about that are you!?"

"And what if I am!?"

"He signed up to be on my team."

"Exactly, he signed up because of your solid reputation, and what happens next? You send him into the front lines barely trained."

"He was begging to go and you know we needed soldiers."

"But you could of sent someone else, you knew that he wouldn't survive a solar cycle out there, even with help." Before his commanding officer could reply he pointed a deadly finger at him. "I don't obey you because I won't let the same mistake happen, especially with my life on the line, or BulkHeads." He stormed out of the main hanger and down one of the corridors that led to his room. Optimus turned to his second in command and raised an optic ridge.

"Please explain." He said with his usual monotone voice. Ultra Magnus stood in silence for a while before answering.

"Back on Cybertron, when the war had just begun. We were having wreckers sign up for teams. WheelJack was on one team but his younger brother IronStrike signed up for my team, because of my the well know reputation as a wrecker leader." He sighed and looked to the ground for a few seconds before looking back up to his leader. "He was young, inexperienced, enthusiastic, but very good fighter... I thought that he would be good for the front lines because he was good at fighting and his energy might help motivate the others who were worn out... it was the wrong decision, the second he had set a pede over the battle line he was shot down... Afterwards when WheelJack had heard of the news he hated me for what I did, and when I was assigned to his team as the new commanding officer he left. At first I didn't blame him, I knew he was mad, but this long?" He looked down the corridor for a while until he felt a strong hand rest on his shoulder.

"The war was fearsome and strong, we needed as many soldiers needed. Even though your decision was not one of the wisest, I do believe you had Cybertrons best interest at spark."

"It doesn't go with why WheelJack does not obey my command.?" Ultra Magnus half asked half stated.

"Wounds this deep are eligible to never heal, but most take time. Plus you must understand that WheelJack has learned how to fight on his own as what the humans would call a 'lone wolf'. He is used to no one commanding him, as long as you know he will not make rash decisions that will harm the others around him, you should learn to trust him and his actions ." Magnus nodded and backed away from Optimus.

"Understood."

Optimus walked out of the hanger and down to the main hanger with his processor thinking. WheelJack never obeyed orders not because he was a loner or that he wasn't the one in command, it was the bot that commanded over him that made him turn away. He slightly shook his helm. It was amazing at how one simple mistake can make a bot turn on you or your ways.
