Dean watched Cassie struggle with her grocery bags from a safe distance. He knew her well enough to know that she wasn't going to ask for help. Her surroundings had changed since her last saw her. She had gone from living at home, with her mother to a one bedroom apartment in the big city. She was going to be a journalist for major magazine if it killed her.

Dean smiled thinking of those nights laying in her small dorm room loft bed. She shared her dreams with him where she wanted to be in five years hoping that he would be there too. He had lied and said he was a student who has for gotten his id card just so she would let him use her meal card. Of course he was lying. There was a job to be done there always was, and this time was a werewolf right off campus that Dean and his father were hunting and soon would kill. Dean was a different person now he had died and come back so many times he didn't know if that man existed any longer.

"Give your wallet bitch," was all Dean needed to hear. Like a flash he was there her knight in hellfire armor. Cassie jumped back not knowing who to be more afraid of the would be mugger or the specter of ex boyfriend who she was sure was dead. He growled like an animal as his eyes turned into soulless pools of onyx. Dean lifted the man off his feet and snapped his neck letting the body fall to the ground. With a wave of his hand the body was gone.

Cassie wanted to scream, but what use would it be? Dean turned to her not surprised when she backed away from him. He was monster now, hell's most powerful weapon. He would give anything to be that man again laying on that tiny bed with her in his arms. Cassie reached out for him but he pulled away from her he didn't want to taint her with what he had become.

"Thank you for saving me," Cassie said softly. Dean nodded he bent down and helped her collect her things. Their hands touched and his eyes turned green again. He didn't know what to do or say give him an enemy and he would kill it in short order, but this beauty with curly hair left him breathless. He swallowed hard.

" Be safe," he said.

" Do you want to come up ?" Cassie asked. Of course he did, he wanted to come up and never leave. Dean wanted to walk up those steps and make love to the one women he made him feel like a man. However he was no longer man he was a monster.

"No, unless you don't feel safe," There was that word again "Safe" Cassie was sure has hell not safe with the king of hell's assassin right next to her. Cassie looked down at the ground not knowing what to say or how to feel.

" I never should have let you go," She blurted out. " I was stupid and a bitch and a coward. Dean I was wrong." He didn't know what to say he had just turned into a demon and killed a man in front of her and she was apologizing. That was what he loved about her. Dean reached out and touched her arm. " Do you still think about us," She asked.

" Yes when ever I want to feel safe," Dean smiled and with that he vanished
