Chapter 1

Alex Karev, chief of pediatric surgery at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, walked through the halls of the hospital one last time along Kaylee, the doctor that would be replacing him for a couple of months where he will be in Orlando Medical center, Florida for a research. The pediatric surgeon didn't know how much time he would need there but he knew that he couldn't refuse the offer once he was invited to work with some of the greatest medical doctors out there to work on new approaches to antibiotic resistant pathogens on kids.

Just as he was filling doctor Kaylee about his latest patients he was surprised by the staff of the hospital gathered up in the corridor with an "All the luck Alex" hanging sign. He looked at every single one of them with a grin plastered upon his face. He certainly going to miss everyone here. Over the last years, Grey Sloan became his house and every single colleague of his were more like his family. He knew that no matter what happened in Florida and no matter what offer he may ever get, he would never permanently leave Seattle because that was where his family was. His thoughts were interrupted by his best friend, Meredith Grey, holding him a cup of juice and a piece of cake and approaching him.

"Promise me you'll at least text me once per day and call me twice a week" she said as she patted his shoulder.

"I will, I promise. I will be back before you know it" Ever since Alex and Meredith lost so many people that meant the world to them they grew more and more attached to one another making them each other's go to person for everything.

"Good. Now go make me proud and fix as many kids as you can"

"So a team of doctors is coming here and I'll be spending lots of my time at the hospital" said Paul as he was undressing after a long day at work. Jo was sitting at the bed reading a book and glancing his way every now and then as she listened intently to what he had to say.

"Working on anything special?" she asked intrigued by any topic related to the medical field. As a med student, she cared about all the upcoming researches happening in this arena.

"Yeah it's going to be great. We're working on kids this time. This is my first time working with kids and I'm kind of excited for it, I hope all goes well so I can finally get that award I deserve" he said smugly clearly proud of himself.

"Hope it all goes well then" she said closing the book giving him a small smile and getting a nod and a smile from him in return.

Paul and Jo have been married for two years now. They met two and a half years ago when she was attending a conference in the university and he was the one giving it when the brunette caught his eyes, and one thing to know about Paul is that he always gets what he wants. Always. So he followed her around making her fall progressively in love with him which haven't taken a long time giving that Jo had so many baggage from when she was growing up so she believed every lie a person could tell her. And that how they both ended up getting married barely half a year after meeting for the first time.

Hey guys! So this is my first time writing a Jolex fic. I know it's only a small chapter but I wanted to see if you would be interesting in reading this.

Also, I know that technically Jo's name should be Brooke because she is still with Paul but I decided to keep it Jo since that's what we're used to.
