A Heartfelt Question

"We always did have a lot of fun...even though sometimes the stakes were high and people got hurt."
Ray sighed smiling as he sat in front of her.
"But when things were down there was always a cloud of silver lining, we beat Boris together...with help from the Majestics...and again later on with the help from everyone else."
Ray paused for a moment thinking of what else to say sitting in front of Mariah cross legged.

He sighed and continued.
"Those three years were the best but I'm glad things calmed down after that...Boris's defeat...Voltaire even Guideon...you remember me telling you about that crazy year...glad those Cyber Bitbeasts never showed up again...I never liked the idea of playing God like that...they were more like unholy abominations...demons unlike the pure spirits Bladers posses."

Ray continued to speak looking at her.
"Although I always did feel something for you Mariah...since I can remember but...I was always too shy to say my true feelings and I was scared of rejection but I spent a lot of time thinking about it and I...I even asked Lee and he said it's okay...you probably think I'm old fashioned or crazy," Ray said chuckling.

Ray stopped talking and raised his head to the sky smiling, his cat like fangs over his bottom lips.
He lowered to stare back at her.
"I guess...I guess this has been along time definitely but...I want to ask...I can't believe how nervous I am...normally people would say I would be brave and confident...perhaps sometimes I'd agree."
Ray chuckled.

"So...I'm going to ask this now and if you say no I'll totally understand and I hope we can still be friends...we work well together, always have...I wonder if you ever thought we could be something more than friends, more than team mates...didn't you feel something in that battle we shared in the Asian tournament several years ago? I did...it was THAT battle that started all this."
Ray again stopped talking looking for something to say expecting her to say something back but there was still silence.

"Well I'm going to ask the question...Mariah...I...I love you from the bottom of my heart and I hope you share the same feelings...I always have but I was too shy...do...do you want to be my girlfriend?"

Ray closed his eyes and opened them again and stared at the writing etched into his heart like it was from a branding iron.

"Mariah Wong 1991-2013 May she Rest In Peace for all eternity...Best friend, Best Sister and Best Team mate we ever had."
