As I said, I was bored. This is a one shot, if you like it please review!
The seconds ticked away on Light Yagami's clock sitting by his bed. A tense Ryuk was eagerly watching Light as he drifted off into dreamland, his breathing becoming steady. Ryuk's eyes were wide with excitement as he silently begged his human and his girlfriend, Misa, to fall asleep already. It was their first night together in bed, and of course, nothing happened between the two. Light had whined that he was tired from work, and Misa unhappily agreed to go to bed early.
"What in the world are you doing, Ryuk?"
Rem was standing off to the side, eying Ryuk suspiciously.
"Shh!" Ryuk held a bony finger to his black lips, frowning.
"Just waiting for them to sleep."
His voice was low and raspy. Ryuk didn't expect Rem to understand.
"Why so excited?"
Her voice was average toned, not any quieter than before.
"Will you be quiet? You might wake them up!"
His voice was harsh, and he looked up at a startled Rem. Ryuk sighed.
"I guess they are sleeping. Come with me, Rem."
Ryuk began to glide down the stairs out of Light's room. He turned back, sensing that Rem hadn't moved.
"Just come with me!" Ryuk hissed.
"This better be good, Ryuk. I swear, if we disturb the humans, I'll-"
"How many times do I have to tell you! SHUT UP!"
Rem's eyes widened. She drifted after him, wondering what could be so important to him. They entered the kitchen, and Ryuk threw open the doors to their fridge. Rem shielded her eyes from the blinding light that it emitted.
"Get out of there! You'll wake them!" she whisper-yelled.
"Cmon, Rem! Have fun for once! Besides, I do this all the time."
A childish grin spread over Ryuk's pale face as he dug through the drawers, searching for something. Rem approached Ryuk and peered over his shoulder. Finally, he grabbed something from the depths of the food, and pulled it out. It was a shiny, red fruit, gleaming in the light of the refrigerator. He pulled out another one, less shiny, and tossed it over his shoulder to Rem. Startled, Rem barely caught it. She glared at Ryuk, and said, "What the hell is this, Ryuk?"
"Just eat it."
Ryuk sank his teeth into the red orb, and a delighted smile spread over his face. He quickly ate the rest, and began rummaging through the drawer, searching for another. Rem examined the fruit suspiciously, wondering.
It better not be poisoned…
Rem took a small bite out of it as Ryuk watched, looking like a father watching his child learn how to hit a baseball.
Rem's eyes lit up as she chewed, and she gasped.
"Like it?"
"Like it? More like LOVE it! This is…it's better than strawberries!"
That was saying something for Rem. Strawberries were her favorite food ever, when she ate, at least.
"Its called an apple. Get used to them, so long as Misa sleeps here."
Rem quickly ate the rest of it, and almost got hit in the head with another. She quickly bit into it, its juice seeping out and smearing on her face.
"I could do this every night, Ryuk!"
"Well get used to it."
Ryuk closed the doors to the fridge and wiped his sticky lips, smiling at his newly-addicted friend.
