Gun shots rang out in the midnight hour. He watched with horror as his bullet soared straight into his cousin's heart. His victim clutched at his chest where the bullet had hit him. Blood spilled out from his wound. His eyes went wide as he took one last look at his killer before finally crumpling to the ground in a heap. The sound of his cousin's body hitting the pavement echoed through the dark alley, ringing in his ears.

He looked in horror at the gun in his hand. His hand was shaking so badly that he could not keep a grip on his gun, and it slid from his hand to drop onto the street with a loud clatter. He raced to his cousin's side and gathered him into his arms. He looked down into a face contorted with pain, horror, and disbelief, a face that he had known all his life, the face that had belonged to his best friend when they had been kids.

With his last bit of energy, his cousin looked up at him and managed to choke out one word, "Why?" His cousin's body jerked a few times before falling back against his arms. His cousin's body went limp; his eyes rolled back into his head.

Tears fell from the young man's eyes as he laid his cousin down flat on the ground. He started to close his eyes but drew back his hands in terrified shock as the moonlight revealed the blood on his hands, seeming to make the disaster even more real. "NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!" he wailed to the heavens.

Angelo Espinosa jumped up from his bed. His whole body was shaking terribly, and thick, cold sweat glistened over every inch of his gray skin. He rose his hands to his face and looked at them only to find they were no longer covered in blood. He sighed as great waves of relief coursed through his being. "What a nightmare!"

Something on his night stand caught his eye, and Angelo turned to see a single pizza box lying on his stand. "Shouldn't've ate the whole thing," he muttered.
