Prolog

Sitting at the cove after a long day of chiefing, a young and slim human leaned towards his dragon, his best friend. Though this status would change very soon.

The human named Hiccup, had been the chief of the Berk for almost a full year, but the job had not become easier for him. The situation with Astrid? Their relation decayed soon after he was named the chief. With the time-consuming job and the constant stress, he seldom date, or even talk to her. When he got a chance to chat, the chat often ends up with him snapping at Astrid. Though he had apologized every time, Astrid started to loss feelings towards him. Until the day of the half-year chiefing ceremony, they finally broke up.

Saying that Hiccup was depressed after that was a massive understatement. He ended up taking a full month break away from Berk by himself, and Toothless, of course.

That was when he figured out about his feelings towards Toothless, his best friend.

On the last day of his vacation, he decided to go to their cove, the one where their friendship, and their feelings started.

"Toothless, I… know you can understand me. Heck, sometimes you're even smarter then me!" The human named Hiccup, paused.

"What I'm gonna say will seem crazy, but hear me out. I… Do you know how much you mean to me? You stood on my side when I am lonely. You stood on my side when I have no one else. You got the village to accept me, and now, though I don't have much time left to stay with you, care for you, you still stand on my side, always protecting me. You changed my life!"

Though the dragon knew that his friend won't understand him, he still said. "You too. You don't know how important you are for me… You changed my life too, for the better."

"I… what I want to say is… I love you."

"…"

"…"

"I…"

"Well… now I know you most likely won't return the same feelings to me, but… I just want to tell you!" He pulled his hair out of frustration. "I… Just forget it. I won't mind just being a friend-"

The dragon did the unbelievable thing. He kissed Hiccup. "Me too."

Hiccup's face heated up as the rough tongue of his now boyfriend(?) entered his mouth. Taking a second to realize what was happening, he melted into the kiss fully, and fought against Toothless' tongue for dominance. Toothless, influenced by the dragon culture, let Hiccup won, declaring himself as the submissive side of the relationship, as Hiccup was the one who told the feelings first. (Not that Toothless could tall Hiccup his feelings if he wanted to.)

After almost half a minute of kissing, Hiccup broke apart first and took a deep breath.

"Well, I guess you love me too then." Hiccup stated.

Their relationship took off after that day. Not even two months later, they already had their first sexual intercourse with Hiccup on top. Hiccup also made a discovery about the Night Fury's special power.

"Bud! I can hear you! I can understand you now!" Hiccup jumped out of his mate's wing.

"Oh."

"Uh, bud, isn't that a good thing? You didn't seem excited."

"Oh gods. Never in my life would have thought that my Soul Mate is not a dragon, but a human!"

"Soul Mate? Am I… not supposed to be your mate?"

"No no, that's not what I mean. In fact, it couldn't be better than have you as my soul mate! I just, thought it wouldn't work with non-dragon, let alone across two species."

"What is a Soul Mate? Is it what allows me to understand you? How does that happen? Is it because I have… sex with you? Is there-"

"Slow down, my love. Every dragon has a Soul Mate, but seldom of us actually find out our pairs before they died. In fact, only seven known Soul Mate pairs were discovered in the last ten thousand, including us. Normally, being a Soul Mate pair won't be much different to a normal pair, except that the bond is everlasting, and we can feel each other's existence. However, Soul Mate pair dies together too. Which means that when you die, I die and vice versa."

"Oh gods, I'm sorry. I can only lived to at most seventy, and from what I can remember, dragon's average life span is… four hundred years…"

"One thousand years actually. The elders like to hide themselves from humans. And don't feel sorry for that. I can never live without you." Toothless stopped for a breath.

"And now comes the complicated part. I, the one and only Night Fury, is quite special from the others. Do not tell anyone about what I am going to tell you."

"When did I not keep a secret of a friend?"

"I. Am. Serious. Promise to me."

"I… I promise to my Soul Mate, Toothless, the Night Fury that I will never tell anyone about what you're going to tell me. Is… that good enough?"

"Okay. I am above death."

"…"

"…"

"… What?"

"Your Viking statement of me being the offspring of the lightning and death is not entirely false. No, Thor and Hel never have a offspring. It's more like I am a half-god, ruled by and also ruling Death. I cannot tell you what that mean. What you need to know is that while I do still die, I will reborn in a new body in somewhere a lightning strike the ground. Now, since you are my Soul Mate, and the bond is everlasting, even across death, I think you will reborn too, just don't know how, or if you will keep your memory…"

"That's… Wow. This isn't a joke, right?"

"…"

"…"

"…"

"I can't think of anything to say except that, why am my life always have to be sooooo complicated? Can't I be just… normal?"

"Nope. My godly power tells that you are abnormal. Not that you are abnormal, but you ARE the Abnormal, itself."

"Tell me this is a joke too."

"Nope."

"Gods hate me…"

"Except me!"

Hiccup facepalmed.

Seven years passed by. Nothing major happened, well except for the serval wars that broke out due to minor dragon issues, and by minor, I mean like a dragon accidentally stepped on a person's foot kind of minor.

"Vikings these days…" Hiccup sighed. He knew that he really shouldn't be outside flying with a bounty on his head. Their enemy this time weren't as easy to deal with as the last few times. In fact, they were not a tribe, but a group of tribes, massive enough to be called a kingdom.

"Hey, love! You promised to drop off you chiefing stuff during our vacation!"

"Ya ya ya… But really! A war, just because someone in their village got playfully pinned down by a baby Nightmare?! I swear they're just finding excuses to fight against Dragon Ally!"

"You know… Maybe, just maybe humans and dragons just cannot live together…"

"NO! That's not true! Look at Berk. Working together has so many benefits for the both side! If they can just get past their damn hatred…"

"We cannot communicate with each other, and without you being the 'middle man', any conflicts will turn into a fight. That's unavoidable."

"But we have Dragon Ally! We have twenty-seven tribes in the Ally!"

"And the number was seventy-one before the war started. Most of them quitted to avoid battles against Great Kineya, and the others, dead. Didn't another tribe leave our Ally just yesterday?"

"Yea, it was the Outcasts. Those ungrateful son of a fat lazy rat-eating munge buck-"

"Language! You can't really blame them to be honest. Their chief was kidnapped and leaving the Ally was their only option."

Hiccup sighed.

"What should I do? Their army size is at least twenty times the entire Berk's population!"

"Just admit it. A society containing two species is just doom to fail. We should-"

"NO! There must be a way!"

Toothless sighed.

They had been having this argument for a week. Toothless knew that while peace between dragons and humans in a small village would work, a major village? Not so much. An Ally built on it? Doomed to fail. Berk was getting too big, and powerful. Now, his fear of attracting a kingdom's focus happened. He knew that they were too late to back down. The only outcome for Berk was extinction.

Berk was a loss cause.

He really wanted to tell his love the truth, but how? His love won't even think about the idea of giving up the peace. How would he handle the truth that he basically doomed everyone on the island? That Berk was dead, already?

He would be in total denial.

Toothless thought about the idea of just getting them out of the Archipelago, saving his love from the pain of watching the village fall. He knew that the only reason he was still staying in Berk was because he didn't want to fail his father, the person he killed.

He closed his eyes.

"Toothless?"

"…"

"Toothless? Are you alright?"

"…"

"Toothless? You're worrying me love."

"I am sorry. Forgive me…"

"Forgive you? Why? You haven't done anything!"

Suddenly, Toothless flew up high, high above the ground, catching the strong wind to the south.

"Whoa! What's happening?! Where are we going!"

Toothless knew that tomorrow would be the day Great Kineya sent his full force to the Berk Island. That was why he insisted Hiccup to have a day off with him.

"Anywhere but Berk."

"Whoa?"

"Sorry love, but we will not go back… if there's still a place left…"

"Toothless? Explain."

"…"

"EXPLAIN!"

"It's too late. We have lost. Berk is gone. I know, I can feel it!"

"You know there will be an attack… We should go back and warn-"

"I am a god! I know what will happen! It's too late. Too late…"

"No, it…" Hiccup could feel the truth of his love's word. He knew when his love brought up the 'being a god' thing.

"I… I guess Berk is doomed now?"

"I… I'm sorry."

Hiccup felt like he was dying. They were ambushed. Although they got out successfully, he got some lethal wounds.

Slowly losing consciousness, he tried his hardest to stop the essence of his life flowing out of his side.

No, he WAS dying. He was losing blood too fast. There was no way he could live though this.

"Toothless, I… am sorry."

"Oh gods! No! Stay strong! I… I'll find… do something… Just stay strong! I can… fix this… I…"

"Stop that, love. Both… of us know the truth."

"I… should have seen that coming! I am a god! Something this huge should-"

"Lay down… Toothless."

"I am so sorry…"

"It's me who should say sorry, cutting your life so short…"

"No, don't say sorry."

"…"

"…"

"Well, at least we will die together…" He coughed.

"I… I will never forget you... even if you will not remember me after you reborn, I will always protect you…"

"I…" He wanted to tell his love to forget him, and not to feel sad or try to find him in his next life, but he couldn't. "Thanks."

"I love you…"

"I love you too…"

Both of them closed their eyes.

A/N: How is it?

I cannot guarantee that I will finish this story. In fact, the idea is so absurd that I have only planed the beginning of the story. This story is more of an experiment for me. I just thought that 'Well, maybe some of you will enjoy it. So why not post it to the web?'

And here we are. Why not leave a comment and tell me why you would read this absurd story?

This chapter is just the prologue, to build the back story and explain a few things. The next chapter is really where the craziness begins.

Go read the next chapter now. It is a double update. Then decide whether or not to follow this story.

(Oh, and also, can someone think of a better name for this story? It's hard to find a good name for a crazy story.)
