# Waiting for These Moments
- Akashi/Momoi
drabble!writing to ease the writer's block, eh.
The silence in Teiko's basketball court was both comforting and nerve-wracking for the two teenagers, one looking faintly bored and the other perusing training sets for their team. Momoi swung her legs back and forth carelessly, pursing her lips up at the ceiling before coming to an obvious conclusion. "You work too much, Akashi."
The captain didn't even bother to give her a glance. "If you wanted to walk home with the others, you should've left. I'm surprised you'd have Aomine spend more time in Kuroko's presence than yourself."
That was a good point, but Momoi still protested half-heartily. "And leave you alone in this empty court? No way!"
"I'm perfectly capable of spending an extra thirty minutes by myself in an empty room."
She pouted. "Here I'm thinking you might like some time in my wonderful presence." It might've been just been her imagination, but she saw a faint twitch of his lips and Momoi almost smiled herself. But it was preceded by a inquiry; "Did you watch the match between Juusen and Heiko early today like I asked?"
Momoi straightened up and rustled through her school bag for the notes she had taken while watching the two middle school basketball teams compete. "Yep! Takada-sensei gave me a pardon since it was in the middle of class." She handed over the slim stack of notes. "Our school takes winning very seriously after all." It wasn't uncommon for the teachers to give out full day pardons to students who were connected with the sports teams or clubs. Whether it be studying or competitions, winning was the goal and dream of every student and teacher at Teiko's middle school.
Momoi tried to remember that one curious move she had noted yesterday and replied. "Oh, watch for the point guard on Juusen. He'll be a difficult to place against Ki-chan."
Akashi hummed in reply, surveying the papers while Momoi returned to her inner thoughts.
"Thank you, Momoi-san."
She turned around to be greeted with strangely warm smile from their captain.
"These will be useful in our next game." He continued.
Momoi's reply got caught in her throat, but she managed a small nod.
Akashi started tapping his pencil against the clipboard. "All I have left is Kuroko's sets and the papers that the school committee sent over." He gave her a curious glance. "Are you sure you want to wait until I finish?"
She sighed and stared at the ceiling for the second time that night. The memory of the smile he gave her moments ago seemed to be stuck in her head. Uselessly she tried to focus on anything except the fact that her cheeks were tinted red.
Momoi swung her legs back and forth, and gave him a bright smile. "I'll wait."
