A/N: Hey everyone! So this is my very first Hunger Games fic. I thought of this on the train on the way to film school this morning and I thought it would be nice to hear things from Gale's perspective. I'm a Team Both supporter meaning that I like both Peeta and Gale and I loved how Josh (Peeta) and Liam (Gale) played them in the movie and I know that they will be equally as fantastic in Catching Fire when its released next year. So I hope you guys like it.

I watched mortified as Katniss stood on the metal launch disk waiting to be launched into the arena. If a tribute stepped off their plate before the sixty seconds were up, they would get blown to bits by the land mines that were deliberately placed there to prevent anyone getting a head start. It's been known to happen. It happened a few years ago by accident.

I watch as the boy tribute from District 12 shakes his head in Katniss' direction. I can't seem to remember his name. I've seen him in school, surrounded by a large group of friends. What is he trying to do to Katniss? Get her killed? The gong rings and the tributes throw themselves from their plates and towards the Cornucopia. Katniss staggers for a moment before she begins to run into the fray. She bolts towards a backpack. I stare at the action in shock because there's a boy from who knows what district running in the same direction as her.

I hear Prim gasp next me and I throw my arms around her as if protecting her from an explosion. I know her mother is standing behind us not saying anything. My siblings however, are watching with anticipation as a knife goes flying into the back of the boy who is fighting Katniss for the backpack. My mother covers Posy's eyes as blood flows from the boy's mouth before he falls to the ground dead and we see his murderer: a girl with knives in her hands and it appears that she has perfect aim. She can aim and throw while she runs!

The girl takes another knife and aims it at Katniss. I hear my brothers gasp and I quickly turn my head to see them with their hands over each others mouths to block out any screams that might fall from their lips. We watch in suspense as the knife flies through the air and narrowly misses Katniss' head. It impacts her backpack. I lower my eyes just in time to see Prim sigh in relief. She turns her frightened eyes to her mother who hasn't changed her expression. The camera then turns to see various tributes running into the forest it before returns to the bloodbath that the remaining tributes have encountered. Cannon blast after cannon blast sounds. Eleven shots in all. Eleven tributes dead in the first few minutes of the Games. Pathetic!

I have always believed that the people of the Capitol especially President Snow have nothing better to do other then party every night away and watch teenagers die for entertainment once a year. It's disgusting! Katniss did a brave thing. To volunteer for Prim when her name was called out. If one of my brothers were called out I would have done the same for them. When Posy's older enough either Rory or Vick would willingly give themselves to save her life. I'm sorry to say that by the time Posy enters the reaping draw I won't be eligible to take her place. If I was I would do what Katniss did.
