The Power
"He had the power. He had the power to bring the World to it's knees. He had the power to control the elements. To burn and drown the World with fire and water, to make every living being fear his very name, to make them worship the ground he walked on.
But he didn't want that. No. He'll never want that.
He'd be happy as a peasant, unnoticed, looked down upon. For his loving heart would never want anyone to suffer because of him. He had the power...um...to be powerful! And...and.."
"Have you seen the state of this room?" Merlin cried out horrified at the mess the Royal Clotpole had managed to make within the couple of hour he's last entered the room.
"What? What's wrong with it?" Arthur asked continuing to chew the quill, trying to think of something else to write. He was so distracted that he didn't see Merlin coming over to the table and therefore failed to stop him as Merlin snatched the paper out of his grasp.
Arthur shot up from the chair with a indignant cry but Merlin was already reading it. Arthur fidgeted as Merlin's eyebrow shot up as he continued to read the parchment.
Finally he snorted. Merlin looked up with amused eyes and handed the parchment back to a now embarrassed Arthur.
"Really Arthur, I think you should leave the speech writing to me in the future." Merlin proceeded to clean the room with a wave of his hand as Arthur spluttered out "Oh come on surely it's not that bad! Is it?"
With a shrug Merlin pointed at the fireplace that roared in to life and sat down the chair opposite Arthur's, unrolled a new roll of parchment and proceeded to write the speech for the feast in his honour as the new Court Warlock.
After a few minutes he handed Arthur his speech with a cheeky grin and stood up saying "No Arthur, but really I, as your advisor, don't want you to humiliate yourself saying I have the, what was it again? ah yes.. "power to be powerful". Honestly what does that even mean?" and sauntered out the room, now devoid of Arthur's many failed attempts at a speech that littered the floor.
Arthur stared at the door that hid His ex-manservant from his view and contemplated how much
power he, Arthur Pendragon had to tolerate Merlin.
"A lot" He finally decided. "A lot"
