Sin: Lust
Character: Theodore Nott
Lust of a different kind
Theodore Nott was usually seen carrying a heavy-looking tomb that rivaled Hermione Granger's wherever he went. It was almost impossible to ever catch him without a book in hand and you would be hard pressed to ever not see him reading said tomb in his spare time.
It really was not surprising that he usually tied first in their year with Hermione Granger, not that he cared really. He did not read those books or know all that he did simply for a trivial matter such as the exams at the end of the school year. He desired the knowledge the books were able to give him.
It was one of those things that everyone got used to and was considered to be a fact: you find Theo, you find a book. It was almost as if something would go wrong with the world if it was otherwise.
That was something that had made sure he was one person in Slytherin no one bothered as every single person there had needed his knowledge at some point in time. They had needed it and he had given it, at a price. No one wanted to be on his bad side when they found that they needed his help for something.
His father had seen this with something akin to pride. His son had been able to make a name for himself among the Slytherins while still in Hogwarts while he himself remained to be only a mediocre Death Eater. His father often showered him with many obscure and often long forgotten books, forgoing reading them himself first.
He lusted after the information that would otherwise had been lost through time as so much else had.
The Nott library had expanded to a great extent during Theo's years at Hogwarts as his father attempted to gain his son's favour with the many books. If Theo became well known among the Death Eater ranks, he would of course be taking the credit for a job well done in raising his child.
Had Theo not had the cunning of a Slytherin, he would have easily been placed in Ravenclaw like many of his ancestors had but he wanted to be more than they had born and died to be. They had only wanted the knowledge. He wanted the knowledge and had learned how to use it for his own benefit during his childhood while attending all the pureblood balls and parties that were required of him as a heir of the Ancient and Noble House of Nott.
The other Slytherins of his year had begun dating recently. They encouraged him to do the same. They had even found people who would like to date him, mostly Ravenclaws he would guess. It was amusing watching them make each other jealous by dating other people when it was so very painfully obvious who would end up together in the end.
He did not need any of those frivolous things.
He had everything he needed.
Besides, he had a date with a new book tonight.
