THE SOUND OF DRUMS
I stood at the side of the army, my small hands gripping the jar. I quickly glanced around at the crowd. Of course, no one was looking at me. They were all mesmerized by the scene unfolding before us. I focused on the jar once again. I didn't want to. I had seen what it could do. I knew the trouble it could cause. But the alternative could be much worse. And I could control it. Right?
I squeezed my eyes shut and moved one hand to the top of the jar. I tried to twist it off, but my hand started shaking and I let go. I couldn't do it. No! You have to do this. They've all sacrificed so much! What have you done? Nothing.
Suddenly, I heard Papa speak. He would notice it was missing and I would be found out! It was now or never. I took a deep breath and opened the jar. Noise exploded in my mind, shrieking at me to let it out. It was almost like the sound of drums, constantly beating furiously in my head. I tried to suppress it, to push it back. It didn't work. The drumming grew louder and violent and I tried to scream, but I was no longer in control. My body warped and changed as I was shoved into a corner of my own mind, insane thoughts filled with anger and bloodlust taking over. My thoughts became clouded as my body started rampaging, not needing my permission.
As I began to fade into the one controlling me, a voice somehow reached me. "Red! Red, can you hear me?" Papa. I became alert, like my eyes had opened. I remembered what was happening, who was out there. I couldn't hurt them, not while I was trying to save them. I wanted to prove myself to them desperately. I couldn't let this go wrong. I heard Papa's voice again, and ignored the constant drumming. I focused on him, on everyone out there, everyone I was just trying to help. I could feel my body slowly turning into me, and I began to shake with a combination of fear and relief. As I opened my eyes to see everyone surrounding me, the drums gradually faded into a dull, rhythmic throbbing, just loud enough to let me know the Wolf's still here.
A/N: So did you like it? Huh? Huh? Did you? What do you think? Love it? Hate it? What? :D
Anyways! The other day I wanted to write a fanfic but didn't have any ideas, so I looked at some songs on my iPod. But instead of doing a regular song fic or whatever ('cuz I listen to some weird music), I decided to just base it off the title. So this is based off The Sound of Drums by Chameleon Circuit. They are awesome and stuff. And no, of course I don't own The Sound of Drums, nor do I own the Sisters Grimm.
Now, a question. As I am bad at thinking of ideas and this was fun, I'll probably do more of these. Would you like them to be all in one story, or should I just have them as separate oneshots? I believe that is all I have to tell you. Goodbye.
Kathryn
