Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Thomas, Percy and Old Slowcoach" from Season 5, with added lines by tate310. Enjoy and comment.

Thomas, Percy and James were looking at the sunrise one spring morning.

"Everyone is happy during springtime." said Thomas.

"Everyone except Sir Topham Hatt." grumbled James. "He works us harder than ever. I'm tired of doing coastal runs!"

"He wants everything to be ready for the holiday." replied Percy.

James crossly puffed away to collect his freight cars from the docks, not thinking about doing any work for the rest of the day.

Later, Sir Topham Hatt asked Thomas and Percy to take some empty freight cars to the scrapyards.

In a siding, they saw a old coach. She looked very sad.

"What are you doing here?" asked Percy.

"They call me Old Slowcoach because I'm not useful anymore. Nowadays, only mice ride in me!"

"Well, you may be dusty, but you're in perfect shape!" said Thomas.

Just then, the yardmaster arrived.

"Come along now, we have some empty freight cars for you to take away."

"Excuse me." said Percy's driver, "can you tell us about this coach?"

"That's Old Slowcoach. She's been here for years, and she'll be broken up when we have time!"

The engines were very upset.

"We'll try to save you." said Thomas.

But he didn't know how.

Meanwhile, James was feeling more cheerful and enjoying himself more than ever.

"This is the life, this is the life!" he chortled.

But there was trouble ahead! One of the fuel cars was leaking, and then, it caught fire!"

"HELP ME!" cried James.

The driver stopped James at a siding, and then telephoned for help.

"The fuel car is on fire, and it's dangerous!"

As Thomas and Percy approched the junction, they saw smoke, and a conductor waving a red flag.

"One of the fuel cars caught on fire!" he called. "The fire is under control, but it's quite a mess."

Thomas and Percy felt sorry for James.

Later, Thomas and Percy were having a drink at the watertower, the warning alarm went off.

"What's the matter?" asked Thomas.

"Another fire has occured!" replied Thomas's driver. "We better see what we can do."

When the fire engines arrived, they had a massive problem.

"There is no water!" cried a fireman. "Worse, we can't use seawater 'cause it clogs up easilly, so unfortunally, we'll have to let this building burn."

Then, an idea flew into Thomas's funnel.

"Use the water from the tank!"

The firemen wasted no time at all putting out the fire using the water from the tank.

"You are a really useful engine!" said the driver.

Even though the fire was put out, the building was destroyed.

"Where are the workmen going to sleep?" asked Thomas's driver.

"Let's use Old Slowcoach!" replied the fireman.

Thomas and Percy gleemed with delight.

Sir Topham Hatt thought that this was a fantastic idea, and so she was cleaned from inside to outside.

"I can't thank you enough!" she said.

The engines coupled up to her, and they set off to bring her home.
