You're Not 18 Yet!
Curly wanted a say in who was the president of where he lived. He was tired of waiting to finally be 18, to be eligible and registered to vote. He decided to take action.
On the morning of November 6th, 9 year-old Thaddeus "Curly" Gammelthorple got out of bed without even taking off his pajamas and putting on some normal clothes. He didn't brush his hair, just walked out the front door and to P.S. 118, which was one of the many voting locations around the city of Hillwood.
"YEAH!" he shouted, charging down the halls of his school and into the cafeteria, where the voters were to go. "YEAHHHH!"
He put on some fat dude's big old raincoat and took a place in line. It took about 20 minutes for him to get to the front.
"Hi, I'm Thad Browsenweener and I'm 26 and registered to vote!" He falsely informed the lady patiently waiting at the table.
"Yes, okay Thad, but I'll have to make sure of that. Please let me check your ID," the lady replied.
"No!"
"If you are not willing to show your ID, I'm afraid you can't vote!"
"I WANT to vote! But I forgot my ID!"
"Then I'm sure you'll have to proceed back home to get it before you can vote."
"It's not at home."
"Then where is it?"
"I don't know!"
The lady began to become impatient. She clacked her long scarlet-colored nails against the wooden tabletop. "Then please just leave. You're holding up the line, I'm afraid."
Instead, Curly proceeded to grab a ballot sheet, pick up a pen, fill in a box of his choosing on the ballot sheet, and then slide it into the voting machine.
"HAHAHAHA, SUCKAAAAS!" he shrieked, peeling off the raincoat, tossing it back behind him, and running back through the halls and into the streets.
At least he got a say. Maybe he thought it was actually worth it, compared to what was about to happen next.
"HOLD IT, YOUNG MAN!" he heard a deep voice growl from around the corner.
[A/N: Errr... ummm... I was bored, okay?! It's election day in the U.S., which is where I live, and I wanted to write something about it. Or at least write something as a filler until I actually feel like writing for my other story, "I Never Saw You Coming". I DO plan on writing more onto this story, just so you don't get mad at me for leaving you with this sort-of cliffhanger. I wrote this while listening to "22" by Taylor Swift, which is like the BEST SONG EVER. Seriously! You should listen to it! I'm like, dancing right now... Anyway, stay tuned for Chapter 2.]
