And Then There Were None by Anaïs
Chapter 1: Where Legolas discovers The Creature and a hidden talent
Legolas Thranduilion was happily strolling through Mirkwood. He had just killed a particularly fat spider and was very proud of himself. Spider killing, however, was grueling business and the Prince was now starving. Legolas performed a graceful pirouette and strolled back towards the palace. His trip back home was interrupted by sudden thunder, lightning, and all the other necessary attributes of a spectacular storm. Legolas dove under a tree.
Ye Valar, but he hated the rain!
A particularly violent bolt of lightning changed his mind about sticking around under a tree. Legolas gracefully pranced up and decided to risk a run back home. He was so intent on not getting his hair wet that he didn't pay attention as to where he was going. The end result was him and a person he knocked down sprawling on the wet ground. Legolas moaned and attempted to pull himself up. Whoever he bumped into was obviously walking at a great speed as well.
The archer of Mirkwood glared at the creature, who had the audacity to knock down the King's son and not grovel at his feet. He was quite surprised: this creature was unlike any he'd ever seen. She was obviously an Elf but she was too beautiful. Yes, Elves were beautiful but this thingy was simply too much so. Legolas smirked. If Arwen had seen this elleth, there'd be major hair pulling going on right now.
The creature was emitting strange sounds. She had managed to get up on her own and was now performing a strange dance of hopping first on one foot and then on another. Legolas noted (not without great surprise) that her dress somehow stayed completely dry and her hair looked flawless. The Prince decided that it'd be in his best interests to bow. True, she was scarily beautiful but hey, an elleth is an elleth and this Elf had needs. Rain always made him rather...needy.
His bow, however, made things worse. The elleth in question produced a sound he didn't think someone that delicate would manage. Legolas assumed that perhaps she was in great pain and decided that this one wasn't worth the trouble. So what if she had luminous white skin, huge green eyes that seemed to look into his very soul (actually, they made him rather uncomfortable) and a river of silver hair all the way down to her feet. Legolas began figuring out a way of getting out of this situation. This girl was beginning to really scare him. When she opened her mouth and began to talk, the Prince wished his parents had never met.
He didn't know that anyone could talk so fast without pausing for air. He couldn't understand a word she was saying, catching only bits and pieces here and there. The expression "ohmigod" seemed to be used quite often, however. Legolas did not know what that meant. He knew that he was wet, hungry, and possibly in grave danger.
"...and like, I was trying to find you, and ohmigod, there you were. It's totally fate!"
The elleth squealed something else and then dropped to the floor in what Legolas assumed was clearly a defense maneuver and she was preparing to launch herself at him with knives any minute now. He blinked and wished he had more arrows with him.
The elleth raised her head and batted her eyelashes.
"My name is Nerwenséregon Undómiel Tinúviel. I know who you are, of course. I know everything about you."
Legolas quickly calculated in his head how fast he could get to his Father's palace if he ran. He thought it'd be something around 15 minutes. He suddenly really wanted to see his Daddy.
"I was meant to come here and save you. So like what's going to happen is that I'm actually an Elven princess so we'll be betrothed and engaged ready to marry. And we will. And we'll live happily ever after."
It took Legolas 5 minutes to get to the palace. By the Valar, he had no idea he could run that fast.
