As the phone was ringing, all Rory could think was Oh my gosh! Jess and lane, Lane and Jess. Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Lane's answering machine picked up. "Hi, we're not here right now" Lane's voice said "But leave a message and we'll call back later."

"Look, I don't want Spiderman sheets, ok, dude?" a voice in the background said.

"But he's awesome!" another voice said. These were obviously the 2 guys in Lane's band who she lives with.

"Okay, guys, SHUT UP! I'm trying to do the answering machine!" Lane's voice said. "If you would just once-" Beeeeeeeeeep.

"Oh, hi Lane, it's Rory. I, uh, I was just calling to," Rory was saying. She couldn't do this. Not over the phone! "To find out when your next gig is, okay, bye!" Coward, Rory thought to herself as she hung up. She looked at the time. Great, just enough time to pull herself together and go to her next class. She checked her schedule. Fleming.

When she got to class, she sat all the way in the back, just as Paris had. Like in Paris' class, Professor Fleming asked everyone how his or her summer was during the roll call. When he got to Rory, he said, "Miss Gilmore, is it safe to assume you had a good summer?"

"Oh yes, marvelous." Rory responded. "And how was your summer? I heard you went to England. Maybe next year you'll get to go to Paris." Rory couldn't resist. After what Fleming did to Paris, it was only right.

"Yes, well, perhaps I will." Professor Fleming said, continuing the roll call. Rory tried to enjoy the rest of the class, but Fleming made it hard. His eyes kept wandering over to Rory. What's going on here? Rory thought. Doesn't he always pick freshman as his new toy? But she didn't have time to worry about it. After class she went back to her dorm to tell Paris of her victory.

"Paris!" Rory shouted.

"Back already?" Paris snapped back. "I wasn't expecting you for a while. But who can know what you're up to."

"Paris will you shut up so I can tell you good news?" Rory said. She told Paris the Story. Paris seemed more than delighted that Fleming got a taste of his own medicine.

"Hey, Rory, I have good news to!" Paris said. "The guy I was, um, with yesterday, is totally terrific! His name is Willie. He has some friends, Dess and Jean if you want me to...?"

"No, but thanks." Rory said. Dess and Jean? Rory thought. Was Paris trying to be sarcastic? But Rory didn't have time to fret about it because at that moment her cell phone rang. Her caller ID said 'Lane Home."
