Chapter 1
"No I can't walk... on the path of the right... cause I'm... wrong..."
"What are you doing, kiddo? You really goin' through with this?"
"I'm gonna find... and I'm gonna kill... every last one of them..."
That is all that Ellie could remember from yesterday. Ellie looked down at her arm, the wounds were still there, but they'd healed. She caressed her upper arm while contemplating whether or not to do anything today. She decided to see if there was any food in the fridge.
She walked into the kitchen, her breath quiet. The fridge door required some force to open. Inside, there was a singular protein bar. She picked it up, angry yet relieved. Ellie blinked and Joel suddenly appeared on the couch. She took a bite of the bar. "Back to torment me, huh?"
"Why do you think I'd torment you?" She crushed the bar in her hands after hearing that.
"You fucking asshole!" "You lied to me!"
"I did it to protect you."
"Protect me from what? The terrors of the world? I've seen the worst things imaginable: murder; decapitation; cannibalism and... David..."
"I'll come back when you've vented." And within a blink of an eye, Joel disappeared.
