When Brunnhilde first saw her, she knew the girl was lost. Lost in this strange world of different species, all speaking different languages, and wearing trashy yet hardened armor. How could anyone not notice this? The girl was wearing something more…soft. If that was even the right word for it. It was a yellow dress, for crying out loud. The dress was slightly billowy and stopping right at her thighs. Not only that, but the girl was wearing sneakers and odd earrings that looked like some sort of Midgardian vegetable. The lost girl was just standing there, hands behind her back, and looking around interestingly. It was hard to believe people passed by the girl at all without checking for a collar or disc. By now, anyone who didn't get a move on was sure to become a prisoner to underground fights similar to the Contest of Champions, or worst yet…a prostitute. Which would probably be the case for the dainty girl she was watching.
But instead of going over to step in and help, the woman merely took another hard swig of the liquor she had bought herself. Another good sell had been made to the lord of the fights and Sakaar aka the Grandmaster. She had no true opinions on people taking others. Hell, she was one of them. Had she not made a great profit, she'd probably take the girl in herself and see what she can get with her.
But by the norns was this girl gorgeous and…different. Brunnhilde felt something unique within her. It was like every part of her didn't even want to sell her but keep the blonde to herself.
Brunnhilde noticed the way she was fiddling at the bottom of her dress, catching the familiar soulmarkings from her ankle and up her thighs. They were easy to catch. Easy to read. They sometimes glow. Brightly at that.
Surprise became evident on the woman. The only known people with soulmarkings were Midgardians and on the rare side, Asgardians. The tanned woman happened to be that rare one.
She unconsciously itched at the soulmark on her arm. Two crested moons facing away from eachother and one full moon inbetween two crests. She already met her soulmate, but…she had long died. She knows because the soulmark had long since disappeared.
But the former warrior tattooed it back. It wasn't as bright as it used to have been, but with the help of other universes that she has hidden in, they might as well bring back her dead beloved. Alas, they could not. And as such, the tattoo was just remembrance of someone she had long lost.
The former valkyrie couldn't help but turn her head back to the girl who now had her back towards her. Long blonde and messy tresses were going down her back. How the brunette longed to comb her fingers through it. She wished another soulmark would appear on her body at that moment. Preferably this girls.
Yet Brunnhilde had a picture on her arm. The lost girl had text.
If you have a soulmark, it was usually the case that they'd be similar. A picture soulmark goes with it's mirrored picture. A textual soulmark would usually be complimented with another textual soulmark.
But…nobody said that you couldn't mix them up.
Brunnhilde, though she wasn't going to steal the blonde girl and sell her, was going to definitely steal her away from her true soulmate. She could tell the other hasn't met her soulmate yet. She didn't have that glow that most had when they're taken by a soulmate. So she'll take her instead. This possible Midgardian.
She did have the afterthought that maybe this girl was Asgardian, but she was going to take a chance she wasn't. Not in such a ridiculous (but rather charming) outfit.
The lost blonde girl turned, watching a large blue and rugged giant walk past her. In Brunnhilde's slightly drunken state, she was able to read the words with clarity.
Well hello darling, I never expected you here.
Well ain't that great. Anyone can use those words on this girl. Usually you'd cover them up, but it felt like she hit a jackpot with this one. Valkyrie stood up, turned towards more humanoid looking people that were red in pallor, and tapped them.
How queer. Luna thought to herself as she stood in the middle of a large hallway, wide eyes gazing in wonder as multiple characters walked past her. It was a good thing when she landed, she had put on a notice-me-not charm as soon as possible, but it was getting alittle hard to maintain it.
People of many species were squinting to where she stood, but not all of them went to her. It was to be expected, but still…
Was she afraid? Not really anymore, no. But she was heavily curious over how she got here. Before she got here, she recalled she was attempting to study the veil in the Department of Mysteries that Harry had mentioned earlier. Being older and with Harry as an Auror, her attempts to come back with lots of paperwork involved, she had successfully been able to come back to the place. The bad place. The area where Sirius had died. She wanted to put some flowers in front of it and coincidentally found Harry being sad.
She thought it was Harry anyway.
Luna was pretty sure she saw some things floating around the place he was kneeled in front of. Not nargles or anything living, but something else. It was like those voices she and Harry heard before the first time they came to the Department of Mysteries. They were…beckoning. As Luna had came closer to comfort her friend and attempt to look closely at the phenomenal residue, she hadn't realized the dangers she had came in contact to by noticing them.
She was practically sucked in like it was a portkey despite never touching it. Harry hardly even noticed she was in the chamber, not even when she was so close to touching his back to help him, and he hadn't noticed she disappeared. In fact…she felt like Harry was never there in the first place when she was sucked away.
The next thing she knew, she had woken up in garbage. It was quite scary but she was not afraid. That would be the Gryffindor outlook, wouldn't it?
Luna's lips pulled back in a small sort of frown yet a thoughtful kind of frown. She'll find a way out. She had landed somewhere scary and was a tad fearful over what happened. However, after she got over it and began to walk around, looking around, she realized that…this was far too different from where she lived in. There was an obvious disconnection from herself, her home, and her magic; but she had enough of a reserve to cast the small things that could save her life. Luna charmed herself to be unnoticeable and came upon the stadium she stood on at this very moment and that everyone else was rushing towards in. Luna was in no hurry as she stuck around closer to the bars of the stadium. She watched, lost, intrigued, and curious all at the same time.
After some time, she had realized she was surrounded.
"Heeeyy fellas. Look what we got here. Fresh meat."
Luna looked over at the red humanoids speaking about her but not to her. She was so busy reminiscing over what happened and looking at a giant ogre-like man, that she hadn't realized she was eyeballed.
Her lips parted to speak, eyes widening ever so slightly. "Oh, hello there-"
The red men didn't know what Scrapper 142 was talking about at first. There had been no girl where the woman was speaking about. But to humor the woman that was giving them money, they were going to surround the spot she was pointing at.
Also since she threatened to gun them down if they ran off with the loot.
They wouldn't have cared…if she hadn't shot someone in the foot and placed an obedience disk on their biggest man. Damn bitch.
What they realized after, however, was the further they looked and tried to focus, the more they noticed…someone really was there. A slightly disappearing girl? What a good prize to give to the Grandmaster! Or someone even richer.
And the moment they thought this, the more they wanted her more than Scrapper 142 did. At least, they thought they did.
Brunnhilde was expecting something from the red men. To hug the lovely Midgardian close, to flirt with her, to do stuff or threaten the girl like typical asshole men, just so Brunnhilde could go right in and say the soulmark's words that bonded the blonde to another person.
She wasted no time in running up to put distance between the girl and the red men when she noticed they pulled out an electric obedience chip of their own.
A button was pressed and what they thought was just one man chipped, was all of them as they were all on their knees by that time. Their bodies shook as voltages coursed their veins and caused them to fall on their faces. No man nor woman could deal with that kind of pain no matter how strong.
The valkyrie woman kicked the leader in the chin, taking a hard swig of the booze she had taken from the counter. "Stupid bastard…" Trying to fucking go off plan!
She didn't think straight enough with her plan and the booze got her. She should have figured these thieves were going to steal the girl too. Probably planned on pulling the big guy with them and running off with what she wanted.
Brunnehilde turned to face the little item she wanted to steal. Her former soulmark now tattoo shined bright on her right bicep as she looked straight into silver eyes hidden behind thick eyelids and long lashes. A flirtatious smirk appeared. "Well hello darling, I never expected you here…"
She knew her ploy wouldn't work if the girl was smart, especially when Brunnehilde's own soulmark would probably mean nothing to the woman…But god did it feel great to hear,
"Please stop the voltage…! Please…! She's your girl…!? W-we won't touch her again- we're so-" Her girl… And then the buzz came. The high voltage electric shocked the men for another 3 seconds before stopping. Her back faced these red men and she was face to face with the lovely girl in front of her. The lovely girl who was apparently 5 inches shorter than her and should have probably been more suspicious of how she said those written words on her thigh.
But this stranger with textual soulmarkings had taken a glance at the men, at her picture soulmark, then into her own brown eyes. Shell colored lips were parted in awe once more. Trust was immediate. Gullible trust.
This girl was gorgeous up close. And she…looked almost similar to her former love. She swore the alcohol would have stuck in her throat and choked her had she taken another swig then and there instead of earlier. Was it bad she had a thing for blondes?
Brunnhilde hadn't realized she was biting her bottom lip and she felt blondie's hand lift up to touch at her soulmark. A shudder ran down her spine and she tilted her head down to press her forehead against Luna's as though she's known her her whole life.
The blonde girl whispered, ignoring the boozey smell the other was emitting from her shakey breaths.
"I hadn't realized my soulmate would be in another planet, let alone have a picture of my name…I thought…," a pause, "My name is Luna…what's yours…?" The now named Luna stopped speaking her turn to let Valkyrie say what she wants to.
Brunnhilde knew what Luna wanted to say, that text-soulmarks would be met with other text, that pictures would be with pictures…But she said nothing about it. Because holy shit, what a coincidence that this girl was named Luna and matched the soulmark without her trying. She was so sure she had to knock her unconscious, tattoo what Luna first said to her on her back, and wake her back up to show evidence while blaming the shock causing her to conk out. Luna had assumed the crossing crescents were meant for her!
The brunette felt…giddy. Ecstatic even. Possessive.
The hand holding the bottle was soon tossed aside, landing on top of a fallen red's head. "I have no name I want to use anymore… People here call me Scrapper 142. But you...you can call me Valkyrie for now."
Why'd she choose that name… She had Scrapper 142 and that should have been enough. Hell, she had Brunnhilde. Her real name…But she chose Valkyrie.
"It used to be my title." Brunnhilde smiled wide and Luna could only look up with innocent eyes.
Before she could speak, Valkyrie heard the groans of the men around her and quickly kicked up her leg so that a chin would get caught at her heel.
"Let's…go somewhere else."
A half slanted smile appeared on the tanner woman's face.
"Let's get to know each other more…darling."
5 years later…
Light-weight boots sounded on the tiled floor just outside a green and white room. A door opened like an elevator and walking into the large room was the former valkyrie. Inside the room was Luna in a place similar to a kitchen, staring at a wall in thought as the screams and cheers below her resounded. The Hulk had won again. Luna turned her body slightly when she heard the doors open. No greeting was made save for a dashing smile sent Brunnhilde's way.
"Welcome home-", Luna greeted her lover, whom she found out was actually named Brunnhilde. The welcome was met with a large grin and the woman held up an arm to show a large currency number displayed on her armlet. 10 million units…
Luna wasn't impressed, but she smiled nonetheless as Brunnhilde spoke.
"The big green champ has been killing it lately and even with the new guy I brought in, he still managed to beat him in pretty good. But they both put up a good fight, I guess. I finally got to get the 'Prince' into action, thanks to your sudden knowledge of his arrival and me getting to him before all the cannibal idiots… We got another 10 million units and it was all thanks to you, babydoll." Being told that Luna was the one to put another person in the Contest of Champions didn't put the younger girl's mind at ease. The paler of the two began to fiddle with her hands in front of her girlfriend, thinking, while Brunnhilde approached closer.
Valkyrie wore the same clothes. Her hair had gotten slightly longer, but unnoticeable. White paint in a lined pattern was on her face. Valkyrie felt light on her feet, just ever so slightly further away from remembering her painful past. She wanted to forget and run away from her past. Not much of Valkyrie has changed. However, the girl she was speaking to had changed a lot more.
In similar garb that hugged her features, Luna wore a sleeveless turtleneck. The material was black leather and the turtleneck stopped just over her midriff. Dark brown leggings hugged her lower features. She had black paint similar to 'tribal' patterns painted on her left bicep. To dazzle her features, she grew her hair longer where it stopped mid-thigh in length. She changed a lot.
Luna didn't really like the change…But Valkyrie seemed to. Afterall, this was the place of the 'unloved'. The 'unwanted'. And she found love and found she was wanted…with Brunnhilde.
Luna had to push away any stubbornness against her soulmate to dress in a way where the woman would look at her with approval. She hated to admit she adored feeling wanted.
Plus, the brunette said it was to protect her. Which, Luna understood. But at the green and white room they lived in…she had to suck it up alittle more to get Valkyrie to really enjoy Luna's new garb. Every time they were out in public, Valkyrie enjoyed pointing out Luna's looks. At home, Luna's clothes that she picked out from what she could find in the shops, were not as complimented.
So she had to discard them… It was a small sacrifice she'd pay afterall. Especially seeing how happy her soulmate looked when she looked at her in the clothes that most would find 'sexy' and 'normal'. Well, normal in this alien society.
Either way, Luna loved her time with Valkyrie. It wasn't that uncomfortable to dress with 'style' here. Luna loved Brunnhilde. That's all that mattered.
The same was felt for the other party. Brunnhilde enjoyed her time with Luna more than she thought she ever could. Though she didn't get the insane amount of warmth she usually would get with her first soulmate, she had slowly progressed to get into a familiar love with Luna.
This girl was hers. Knowing Luna was possibly from a different dimension altogether, Brunnhilde was giving as many reasons as she could for Luna to stay and that going back would be next to impossible.
And stay she did. But giving up on going back to her home planet? No.
It was a bit frustrating.
"Ah, did you now…?" Luna finally answered with an unsure tone after a bit of time. Her silver eyes traveled back at the wall to stare. Brunnhilde frowned at the response before walking over towards the girl's back and wrapping her arms around her waist. The more dainty of the two tilted her head back so that it rested on the shoulder of her beloved. Silver eyes now stared at the ceiling and dark brown closed in thought.
"I know you hate fights, but you know it's my job to bring in the money. Plus, look where it's got us. Nice clothes, a nice-ish room, a nice ship…" Valkyrie pressed a loving kiss to Luna's neck. Luna couldn't help but close her eyes at the affection. She didn't want all these supposedly nice things…
But god how she melted to affection she has long been pulled away from.
Luna's smile widened slightly only to open her eyes in that half-gaze and frown.
She truly didn't want these materialistic things…but it was with her soulmate. And though she would usually speak her mind about things, she was afraid of losing her soulmate and being left in a place she knew nothing about. Valkyrie had made it known she was protecting Luna in Sakaar. The world where people enter but nobody really exits without a good, and she meant good, ship. And as days went on with them getting closer and closer, Luna believed it to be true that there really was no escape.
Especially since her magic was slowly weakening and she didn't know why. It didn't stop that sliver of hope to go back to Midgard, but it was very…very thin.
Luna was suddenly turned and hoisted up on the counter. Her legs were on either side of Valkyrie who pushed hard, pressing against Luna. Dark, flesh-colored lips pressed and ravaged against the paler skin of the other girl.
Luna gasped and tilted her head back. Small hands shot up to grasp at the other's hair, weaving through the wavy brown tresses.
Valkyrie's hands felt around Luna, touching anywhere she could get her hands on, only to stop. She rested her hands against Luna's hips. Her head tilted up and began pressing small kisses to the girl's lips.
"You. Are so cute…" Valkyrie muttered with a genuine smile. "I love you so much."
Luna couldn't help but take a look into the dark brown eyes of her lover. She knew Valkyrie hid something. Something she was never going to really push into, knowing people like to be privy. But she knew Valkyrie was hiding something…
But in those eyes, at this moment, she saw love. Love meant for her. And Luna could only rest her forehead on Valkyries. She knew without having to smell the booze on Valkyrie that she was sad. But neither woman ever complained nor said anything about it. Luna never did these past 5 years when she probably should soon. She didn't want the other to die of alcohol poisoning.
Luna's fingers scratched at the back of Valkyrie's head.
"I love you too…"
The door knocked and the two glanced out to see a guard calling for Valkyrie. The champ, Hulk, wanted to see her in his room. Valkyrie pressed a calm yet chaste kiss to Luna's lips then pulled away.
"I'll be back. Big guy probably wants to train."
Luna stared off at the exit, watching Brunnhilde's figure disappear behind the closing door.
Usually Luna wouldn't leave the room without Valkyrie or unless she wanted to wander around the tower, but she saw the magical dust that lead her through the veil to Sakaar just after the announcement of the God of Thunder and the Champion being missing. She had seen a crash out the window and a strange man jump from the building to the floor below.
Next thing she knew, she felt like she was being beckoned again. The call.
The phenomena dusts.
Luna chased after the things the moment she saw them at the crack of the door. Silver eyes were wide and the hope she had deep in her heart revived like a car engine's battery being jumped.
She could probably go back home.
The witch avoided people's paths, dodging fast as her feet clicked on white tiles. She was sure she went down through elevators, staring into space like she was watching Nargles all over again. Never once in her mind did she wonder when did she become so dependent on Valkyrie. She wasn't, afterall, one to think about things like that. She was more focused on the fact that the dust particles she saw were from back home. Her home.
Luna noticed a lot of the dust seemed to be going outside the moment the elevators opened. Nobody noticed it except her. Anyone with her had walked out of the elevator including herself. Following the trail, she hadn't realized she was about to go outside. Her hand reached out to grab them just when the doors were opening, only to bump headfirst into a man who was accompanied by a guard of the Grandmaster.
Luna was snapped out of her daze and braced for impact between herself and the ground when she felt a hand grab her wrist just before she fell. Another hand was at the small of her back and she was kept off the ground. Nonetheless, she was helped.
Luna glanced up at the character who had helped her, about to send her many thanks.
And he was…otherworldly. Her breath hitched the moment she saw him. Her eyes were half-mast as she looked him up and down. His jawline, his hair, his eyes…Something made her cheeks redden just by looking at him. Only when she noticed his expression did her heart ache for this stranger.
What an odd feeling…
A man almost a head and a half taller than her stood there, grimacing abit as though in thought. Luna wondered what. His reflexes were fast to catch someone who bumped into him, but he didn't really care to look at her. He had so much more to think about right now. Luna's eyes wandered above him. Something similar to Nargles appeared in her mind. Instead of a thankyou, she merely responded with something more…her.
"You would attract a lot of nargles…"
His mouth popped open slightly in disbelief. Whatever reverie he was in was pushed aside as he finally looked over at the girl. Black strands of his hair followed his head movement. Luna knew that look and was ready to shrink down and go back to her dust hunting, eyes looking down at her leather boots when…
"Well hello darling, I never expected you here…"
That was all it took for Luna's heart to race. The way this man said those words caused her heart to flutter unlike how Brunnhilde said it. Luna looked up, expecting to see a joking face only to meet with curious eyes. Neither seemed to notice their hands were still connected.
That's when her magic blossomed in her reserves. And that's when Luna realized, this was her real soulmate…
Loki knew what the Grandmaster wanted the moment that dreaded guard came up to him and asked for his presence. What was the God of Mischief to do in this time? Well, he began to make plans. And it was…well, it was becoming unsuccessful and infuriating. He of course knew of Thor's motives to get out of Sakaar, but Loki, he did not want to leave. Then again, some other parts of him screamed to go home too. Not that he paid them as much attention.
How had Thor escaped and when anyhow? Doesn't that idiot even know where to go?
Loki had been heading towards the elevator when a person bumped into him. Blonde hair lighter than Frigga's caused him to move. He responded out of character, grabbing this person by the wrist and the small of their back. He looked at them once then looked away.
He shouldn't have caught this person. He had better things to do like heading towards the Grandmaster and following his guard.
He was about to let go of the girl to fall on her bottom when he heard it.
"You would attract a lot of nargles…"
Loki's eyes widened and he looked back down at the girl in disbelief. His mouth opened ever so slightly. Those words. Those same words resided around his left wrist in dark blue letters. The same ones that put him in a bit of a puzzle as he tried to figure out what in the Nine Realms nargles were. And then he felt the magic inside her. His…soulmate. Both his magic and hers were vibrating together, lacing together in perfect sync. And to the god, it felt so amazingly euphoric. As if everyone else in the room were gone and it was just he and her in the room together. He swore he saw visions of him holding her close to him, of the two holding hands and laughing, and of the two of them teaching each other about things neither knew about. Noticing her head tilting down, Loki felt his heart skip a full beat and his eyes softening as he slowly pulled her right back up to her feet in a more balanced position.
"Well hello darling, I never expected you here…," he managed breathlessly.
The words came out of his mouth in a tone he does not recognize. Years of searching for his soulmate just to see if she was an Asgardian because he didn't want to settle for less, and she was right here of all places. And even when he wanted the soulmate to be an Asgardian, all of his personal preferences seemed to have vanished in an instant the moment he looked at her. Because by the norns, luck had came to his side for once. She was beautiful. Long hair that spilled past her shoulders and touched at her bottom, eyes silver and full of secrets he wanted to uncover, skin pale compared to the garment she wore…
Loki fell for his soulmate as hard as a soulmate could fall at a first meeting.
When she looked up at him, he did expect the surprise and shock in her eyes. However, what he didn't expect was the confusion and the hurt. In fact, he really didn't anticipate the hurt look at all and it made him reel back himself.
He also didn't anticipate the girl pulling away her hand like she had been burnt and running back into the elevators he was going to go to. He should have stopped her, stopped the elevator, but… He was accompanied by a guard who nudged him to go to the elevator next to the one she took.
The farther the girl was gone, the more Loki realized how he probably looked like a buffoon standing there in awe at a girl he just met.
Loki shook his head. The God of Mischief glared at anyone who dared look at him and walked on with the guard next to him. He needed a plan first. Now was not the time for something like this.
But at least he had a reason to stay.
After the small mind-rape from Lackey, Loki, whoever the hell, Brunnhilde had wanted to get back to Luna as soon as possible. She was currently dragging Loki behind her, him being wrapped in golden chains.
She had a hard vision of her past lover. Her companions dying from attempting battle with Hel. It has caused the drunkard much distraught, but instead of going straight to Luna or going for another pint,
she had a lot of work to do to find Thor and Hulk and get them to bring her with them.
Luna was her new world. Her bit of savior in this dark place and her salvation to something else. To forget. But pulling all the memories back crystal clear by Loki's magic, she has felt the pain of her lover dying once more. She has felt the sacrifice her soulmate had made for her to live when their eyes connected in that memory.
And knowing Hel was alive and well pissed her off.
She wanted to be on that team and get back to Asgard. She wanted to help Luna find her home in a place that could actually help her. She wanted to make amends and to stop running away.
Brunnhilde came into the green and white room she and Luna resided in, nearly bumping into her lover. The girl was standing in front of the doorway, body quickly turning right at Brunnhilde the moment the doors rose open.
"Brunnhilde-", Luna said with a soft and confused tone. She knew when people were in a hurry when she sees it. "What's going on? I just came back home and was gonna go back out to find you but…"
Valkyrie paused before smiling lightly. Luna partly knew Valkyrie was slightly upset that Luna went out on her own, but she also knew Luna wore enough clothing to blend in as a civilian. She was, afterall, not really an outsider of Sakaar anymore.
"I'm bringing home guests, love." The brunette threw Loki inside none too gently into the room. The door closed behind her. She didn't notice the way Luna's breath hitched nor the way Loki's eyes widened once his head lifted to look at this supposed 'love'. "Watch him for me, okay?" She asked with her arms crossing and her body shifting to the weight she put on one foot.
Luna's eyes were almost as wide as Loki's and she was on the verge of grabbing Valkyrie from escaping when she noticed Valkyrie was about to leave soon again. Her real soulmate and her possible fake one were both in the same room. Did…Did Valkyrie know they met? Did she know and she was gonna do something bad? Luna shakily inhaled before asking. "Wait, what's happening?"
"I'll explain later Luna-babe. But I think we can both get out of this planet…If…you want to go."
Luna felt her heart beat fasten in pace in that moment. She had a chance to go home.
Valkyrie didn't know if Thor would really succeed in getting out, but it was worth a shot. And she was not leaving behind her lover. Luna realized this. And though she was wholeheartedly upset at being lied to for 5 years, she was...happy Valkyrie wouldn't leave her behind.
Her love for Valkyrie was still oddly there...
This whole day was becoming much too melodramatic for Luna and she had so much of that in her old home. But she felt the affection and couldn't help but grasp hard at it despite the circumstances.
Luna's pale cheek was gently patted at with a tanned hand. Luna looked up at the girl who she thought was her soulmate for 5 years. Valkyrie smirked, taking it as a sign of 'yes'…and left.
Well, this was…an even worst meeting to have with a soulmate. Loki supposed there could be so much worst, but he couldn't help the way his heart palpated and his jaw locked as the girl, "Luna" lifted him up in a seated position on a little block to serve as a chair. His eyes were in slits, eyes like daggers glaring at Luna who stood in front of him with her hands clasped over her lap. He was visibly upset, nearly shaking in the tight chains that locked him in from pushing Luna up against a wall and demanding answers.
"I understand not being able to wait for your soulmate, but I've waited far longer than you probably have, darling…" He was…hurt. Abit angry, even, that his soulmate had decided to choose a valkyrie as a lover. It was rare for an Asgardian to go against the soulmark and the silent rule that only people who have complimentary soulmarks will be together. Yet here he was, betrayed by family of the past, and a lover of the future.
Luna's eyes skimmed up Loki's chest to his face, lips pursed in a sweet pout to show thought. She never heard Valkyrie say the word darling again after a week or so of meeting. Hearing how Loki said it, she knew she'd be called that often by him. But...what a complicated mess this was. And her lips were slightly open during her ponder of what to say, silver eyes darting to the side.
Loki ignored how adorable she looked at the moment in favor of staring straight at her as if waiting for an explanation. No smile given. Eyebrows relaxed and a stoic stare was made. He gave a gentle shrug at her confused look when he gave a tut.
"Are you a soulmark rebel?," he asked curiously. The soulmark rebels were people who would avoid their soulmates to be with others of different soulmarks. Lasting relationships were rare. "How long have you two been together?"
Luna felt like she was being accused. She didn't blame Loki but her heart was hurting with every biting word. She chose her words carefully, trying to find a way to explain to him she thought she had been with her soulmate this entire time. "I'm not a soulmark rebel…We've been together for five years n-"
A bitter laugh escaped. Luna's eyes hardened, remembering a time when she was laughed at by those who didn't believe her or didn't want to believe in her.
"…She said the same thing you did."
Loki stopped. Confusion marred his features. Same thing he did? It was extremely rare for polygamy soulmarks.
"…She read it. And I fell for it. It took me today to figure that out...Some Ravenclaw I am..." Luna smiled softly to explain and Loki's brows furrowed at this. What in Odin's name was she talking about? He had a feeling he knew what the first sentences meant, but he didn't wanna believe it quite yet.
Luna pulled off her tights and Loki couldn't help but turn his head to give Luna privacy. However, she stood there, still, as though waiting. Curiously, green eyes glanced over and noticed she was facing the window for her soulmark to be seen on the side of her thigh. Loki read it and realized…oh.
The Valkyrie was a soulmate stealer.
The stealer was someone who would take another person in a relationship who had a soulmark, knowing the soulmark did not match theirs. It is possible. Very possible. And very common.
The words were quite larger than the ones circling his wrists. Much easier to read from a distance.
Luna's hand lifted over her mouth and she felt near tears film her eyes. Loki heard the whimper and yearned to be removed of his bindings to hold his stolen soulmate.
"She had crescent moons. I thought it meant my name. I should have known picture soulmarks and text soulmarks don't mix. But…It looked so familiar and she looked at me so kindly when I was in need of help." Luna turned to face Loki, pink panties (so very outlandish from this land's style) were on display for him to glance at. But he was only looking up at her face. He didn't know what to say, really. Luna sniffed once then bent down to pull up her tights. She didn't feel like she had reason to cry. She was lied to, yes. And she did in fact fall in love with Valkyrie.
But it only meant she had to make a decision between the two. Go with someone she was meant to be with, or stay with the person whom she fell into love with?
Loki was angered by the entire thing. He was about to tell Luna that he will steal her back and he will do something about the Valkyrie, but what Luna said next made his mouth suddenly dry.
"Please do not be mad at her...she has been sad for a very long time and I felt it. She probably did it out of loneliness..."
How would he not be mad!?
But he saw her plea. Her look towards him as though she was about to go up to him and kneel down at his waist.
Soulmates...
It was true that everything felt between soulmates, you can never stay too angry forever...
Or be too whipped.
Loki finally spoke up and whispered, "My wrists. The left side. If you go around me you'll see them under the arm guards. Your words are around my wrists like a band." He wanted to show her that he was telling the truth. That he was the one meant for her. He didn't know why he wanted to, but he felt it was only right she finally had harden evidence. He was a God of Mischief, but he didn't want to lie or deceive this girl he was meant to love. She had been deceived as much as it is already.
Luna shook her head. "….I know they would be. I know." Deep down inside, she did. She already felt the connection the moment they met and the words that have been spoken. Just like how she felt connections with her first wand. It was not like Valkyrie, where she had to learn to really love her like her second wand.
Luna let out a shakey sigh and reached out to gently touch Loki's cheek with her palm. He was warm to the touch. And she was warm to him. His head turned to kiss her palm and Luna felt the magic restore the reserves that had dried out. "I'm…terribly sorry…", the male said. Unlike with the miniature spar with Valkyrie, he truly meant his apology to the girl he didn't want to cause harm upon but did.
Her eyes widened. Loki watched as she pulled back.
Hurriedly, she went into the small storage closet and pulled out her wand from a box at the top. She flickered it for the display of tiny fireworks to appear.
"My magic is back…"
To Be Continued.
