This is my first Fast and Furious Fanfiction so I'm not exactly sure what the reaction will be! Rated 'T' for violence. No bad language as I cannot stand reading that kind of thing in a story!
Brian's POV
The first thing I am aware of when I wake up is that someone is yelling my name. The next thing is not nearly as pleasant. 'Getting burned alive in your crashed car is the absolute worst way to die,' is, unbelievably, my first thought when I feel the flames licking at my legs. I cry out, grappling for the door handle. The metal is red hot, and this only causes me more pain. I try to get out of my seat so that I can turn the right way up, but my leg is jammed under the stupid steering wheel.
"Help!" I yell. "Dom! I'm stuck!" Spending so long upside down is beginning to make me feel dizzy, but that is the least of my problems right now. "Somebody help me!"
"Brian! Hang on… I'm getting you out of there!" Dom yells from somewhere nearby.
I hear the sound of smashing glass, and someone climbs in through the passenger's window. "Dom!" I gasp.
"Let's get you out of here."
"But my leg… it's trapped!"
Dom reaches over and manages to force the steering wheel forwards to free me. He grabs a fistful of my shirt and hauls me out of the burning car. As soon as I put weight on the leg, it folds up under me. Dom grabs me before I can fall and holds me up as he practically drags me away from the car. We haven't made it very far when the entire thing explodes behind us. We are both thrown into the air, and I land heavily, rolling over a few times. When I come to a stop, I slowly lift my head and look around for Dom.
"Brian! You good?"
I sigh in relief, looking over at him as he gets to his feet and runs over to me. "Yeah. I'm good."
"Come on. We need to get you to a hospital," he says firmly as he pulls me to my feet.
"A wanted fugitive is suggesting going to the hospital? That's a first. Let's just get back to the team. You've stitched me up before. You can do it again."
Dom shakes his head. "I don't think a needle and thread is going to stitch up the concussion from that gash on your head."
I lift a hand to my head, and am surprised to feel something wet on my fingers. When I bring them away, they are covered in red. "Great," I mumble.
Dom bends down and slides an arm under my legs, lifting me up.
I immediately protest. "What are you doing? Put me down! I'm fine!"
Dom sighs. "Shut up O'Conner. You can't walk, you probably have broken ribs, and you definitely have a concussion."
I allow him to carry me through the trees for a few minutes before speaking up again. "How do you know I have a concussion? Just because I hit my head it doesn't mean I have one," I point out.
"What's the last thing you remember?" Dom asks.
I try to remember what had happened. It's difficult, but the details are getting clearer.
I looked over at Dom and smirked as I hit the button on my steering wheel, feeling a rush as the car suddenly accelerated. I flew ahead, glancing back at my friend with a grin. In that one moment, everything changed. It was only when I turned back to the road that I saw the car heading straight towards me. The driver was looking for something at her feet, so had no idea what was about to happen. Without thinking, I jerked on the steering wheel. I only narrowly avoided the other vehicle, and fought for control of the car as it careened towards the edge of the road. Time seemed to slow down as I smashed through the roadside barrier, and everything tipped sideways. I hit the ground hard, and was thrown about in my seat as the car rolled over and over again until hitting a tree dead on, flinging me forwards and causing me to hit my head on the steering wheel.
"Good. Now tell me what you had for breakfast this morning."
I stare at him blankly. "Uh… what does it matter? I remember the crash. That's all that matters… right?"
Dom chuckles. "You have a concussion. I'm taking you to the hospital."
I roll my eyes. "At least let me walk on my own!" To my surprise, Dom stops and sets me down.
"Go ahead."
I have only taken one step before I collapse. Dom catches me before I can hit the ground and once again lifts me into his arms. This time I don't argue. Another ten minutes and I am beginning to feel tired.
"Go to sleep O'Conner."
I shake my head weakly, even though all I want to do is that. "I'm fine," I mumble halfheartedly.
"Stop being difficult and rest. You need it." Dom orders.
I sigh and rest my head against my friend's shoulder, letting my eyes slip closed. Before I know it, I have fallen asleep in Dom's arms.
Dom's POV
I feel Brian go limp in my arms, and sigh with relief as I realise that he has finally gone to sleep. Glancing down at him, I notice just how pale he looks. I stop walking and gently set him down on the ground, leaning him up against a tree. We need to find somewhere to spend the night. We were already in the middle of nowhere when we were racing, and being on the run doesn't exactly make it easy to ask people for a lift, but I desperately need to get Brian to a hospital. Making sure that he is safe, I push my way through some bushes and find myself on the edge of the road. It's quiet, with not a car in sight. So much for getting a ride. Going back to Brian, I sit down beside him. He shifts slightly, and his head falls into my lap. I smile and put an arm around him, closing my eyes for just a second. Big mistake. When I wake up, the sun is high in the sky. I leap to my feet, bending over Brian, who is still fast asleep.
"Brian, wake up!" Not getting a response, I shake him by the shoulder. "We have to go! Brian!" His head falls limply to the side, and I swear, kneeling down at his side. "Brian!" I fumble for his pulse, relief washing over me when I find it. "Come on buddy. Wake up!" I slap him gently on his cheek a few times. Finally, he lets out a moan, his eyes blinking open. "Thought I wouldn't be seeing those eyes again anytime soon," I say with a smirk, secretly overjoyed that he is awake. His eyes focus on me, and a look of confusion crosses his face.
"Who are you?"
I'm sorry for ending it like that! I usually don't end my stories like this but it was too good of an opportunity to pass up! I hadn't planned on going in this direction, but this is where it took me :) Anyway, I hope you guys liked it! Please review... Constructive criticism is appreciated!
