If there was anything you knew for sure it was that fairy tales were a load of crap.

Because sometimes the princess is actually kind of a genius and her prince is kind of a jerk. You, the princess, love him anyway but you're not sure he loves you back and then you're pretty sure he doesn't because he brakes up with you and starts flirting with the new princess in town who you thought was your best friend. And then it turns out he's some sort of homicidal lizard who really did love you all along and you save him because you think that maybe this is as close to happily ever after as you are ever going to get.

But it's not because said prince hauls off and moves to London of all places and you delete his number from your phone even though you memorized that number a long time ago and would pick up in a second if he called.

You spend all summer crying in your bed room that you've painted princess pink.

When school starts again there's a new prince in town and he's tall and aggressive and athletic and he makes you think of another prince who left you.

But then everything gets complicated and you don't know if you're a princess or a witch and what side are you on anyway?

Then there's the peasant boy who has been in love with you since he was 10 years old and somewhere in the back if you're mind you remember a movie you once watched with your father- who you supposed would be the king. The princess and the pauper.

And now you are one confused princess because you've got a prince and a pauper and another prince miles away who you hope thinks of you as often as you think of him.

Quite honestly you're not sure you will get your fairy tale ending because the princess is a banshe and the princes are werewolves and the peasant boy is quite skilled at hiding how broken he is behind a sarcastic smile.

But you never believed in fairy tales.
