Just a quicky. Nothing special :D
Quietly observing his fellow nations, Canada tried to stop thinking about how sad it all was. Not that he was being ignored (again, though that was sad enough) but rather just... He sighed, watching England once again lean in close to France. Not in a romantic way, no, but aggressive, assertive, demanding. Eyes cold and back straight as a ruler, shoulders squared, chin lifted. Even in the by now slightly rumbled suit, England's military history shone through and probably not even regular humans would ever mistake the old empire for a regular paper pusher. When he walked, he marched, when he stood, he always had to catch himself from putting his hands behind his back in a parade rest. Sitting, his bearing was impeccable.
He supposed that was impossible to avoid with so many centuries of drills and soldiering, but it was still sad.
Even more sad was the fact that he could see the same mannerisms in almost every European present. It wasn't that war had not touched the rest of the world, of Asians especially China and Japan sat always ramrod straight, but with Europe being little more than a kettle of war and strife for the last, what? One thousand, two thousand years? It was little surprise that they'd show such behaviour. Ever since "civilization" had touched Europe, had there been a longer period of peace than the one after the second World War? He somehow didn't really think so. And even that period was tainted with the constant threat of violence breaking out as America and Russia tried to get the upper hand.
And during that, during the last century after America had dropped his isolation policy, he had begun developing the same habits. He was yet not as bad as Sweden, who seemed completely unable to sink into a couch, or Russia, who didn't even slump when drunk, or Germany, who could probably masturbate while keeping a perfectly even march. Not that Canada would know that, but he didn't think it was too impossible. God knows how Germany had gotten to that point in less than two centuries, even being the little brother of someone like Prussia and being so heavily involved with the two Great Wars.
He wondered sometimes if his brother noticed the way his back was almost always straight these days or how you could set a clock after the beat of his feet when he walked.
Even France, one of the most languid people Canada knew, or the Nordics, some of the least militaristic nations these days, or Switzerland, renown for his neutrality policy, could not hide that they had been involved in more wars than could be easily counted.
It was sad. So very, very sad, Canada thought. Worst of it all was that none of them probably even knew.
THE END
It may or may not belong in the Cradle of War 'verse or, well, it would if I rewrote it to fit a slightly different take on Canada. Will be using a slightly more... hardened Canada for the CoW-verse (Teehee, Cow-verse XD)(-so easy to amuse)
