one: breathe.
Her vision was more than blurred by now, and her face was gaining a very uncommon shade of red at every passing minute. Everything seemed so incoherent, even her name was forgotten by now. Only one thing came to her mind.
That face.
The girl with the whip and damp clothes, the one who had almost stuck a sword through her belly. Why didn't she? It was sure to be less painful. Everything hurt, but not even the burns were worse than the agony growing on her chest.
She kept repeating it to herself. Breathe, breathe, breathe. But no air would come and the panic was taking control of her body. First her hands were stopped and suddenly she couldn't smash the surface above her anymore.
When did they even got this, and why?
She never saw it coming, as they were supposed to be allies. Six. That was the right number, she counted them every night. Six more to go and they chose her.
Then she couldn't scream or kick, not even cry. Her whole body was paralyzed, her eyes wide open in terror. At the last moments she did not think of home, friends or any of the people she had left behind. She did not realize what was the meaning of life and did not pity over the ones left.
The panic brought back the worse memories and only added to the pain. The frightened little girl crying all alone wasn't lost anymore. She was there, sweating and suffering and dying.
Only when her eyes were closed shut she gave in.
And darkness was already there, waiting for her since the beginning. When she finally took her last breath it embraced her like a friend and for the nineteenth time the cannon was heard all over the arena.

(author's note: alright, my plan is to write 23 more chapters, each with a different death, of a known tribute or not, but only the less violent ones. i hope that explains the title and lack of familiarity from this character. i won't follow the districts order, it will be totally random, next up will be from D6.)
