Summary: He used to be one of those people, the ones who held a hand just because they could.
Notes / Spoilers: "Blink"; drabble-ish. S'not often I do a drabble, so this is…weird, to say the least (my 'drabbles' are usually around 500 or more words). I've had this idea since I first saw the ep, though, and after a rewatch it finally demanded writing.

"Used to Be"
His head turns as a man starts to walk towards them, his face a picture of disbelief. When he's by her side, Sally grabs his hand. He wants to say it's a message, by the way she squeezes his fingers, but...
He used to be one of those people, the ones who held a hand just because they could. It's an unconscious gesture, he knows - and maybe that is a message in and of itself.
He smiles, bittersweet as he loses himself in a quick-as-a-flash memory, and then it's over and Martha's calling and he remembers he has four things and a lizard to deal with, so he turns and runs after her as Sally Sparrow watches him leave with her hand to hold.
He used to be one of those people, he thinks, and he misses it.
