Have yo ever felt alone,
like your out on your own.
Alice is alone,
no one in the house or the home.
Alice sits at home with fright
for her mom that night.
she left a message on the phone
saying she was coming home
but that was a hour ago.
Alice hears a tap at the door.
she opens it to see a highway
trooper, he said "I have some bad news".
He looks straight down at his shoes.
He says there was an accident and
her heart filled with grief.
He says it was a drunk driver.
Alice feels weak from the sudden grief.
Her face feels hot as the tears
fall freely.
The officer says he's sorry he asks
if there was an adult home and
Alice whimpers no.
