SG-1: Nothing left to say
Brendon James
Sam sat with Daniel in the Mess Hall; it had been months since she'd been back to Colorado. Daniel knew what was going on between her and Jack. The problem was Jack had ended things before she left and no one knew that yet.
"So how are things? I mean that as glad as I am to see you, shouldn't you be in Washington?" Daniel looked concerned; Sam guessed he was thinking something was wrong. In all truth, why else would she have asked to be reassigned back to the SGC?
"He ended us," Sam looked as if she were to cry. She whispered in his ear, "Daniel I'm pregnant. Jack's engaged to be married, please don't say anything." The tears she had been holding back begun to spill.
"Sam, you and Jack are my best friends. Though Jack and I will have words about this to a possibly violent extent, I will do everything to keep you and the baby safe."
"This isn't your responsibility Daniel; I don't want you to feel obligated."
Daniel shook his head and took Sam's hand, "I lost my family at the age of seven. Shari and I never had children. I don't mean to intrude but SG-1 is my family now. At the very least let me be an uncle."
Teal'c and Cam came to join them, Vala had moved off world. "Hey guys, whatchya talking about?" Cam sat down next to Teal'c and started into his lunch.
Meatloaf surprise was today's special. Sam started to turn green. "To answer your question Daniel, yes of course you get to be an uncle. Now Cam, and Teal'c too, I'm about four months pregnant. Yes you can all be uncles. Please from now on though, don't eat foods that smell likeā¦that." All three men nodded. Quickly, Cam and Teal'c stood and discarded their lunches.
"Is O'Neill the father?" Teal'c asked calmly.
"Yes Teal'c, but as I was explaining to Daniel we broke up. Likewise, I have no intention of telling him."
Cam's jaw dropped, "you aren't staying on SG-1 are you?"
Sam started to speak, but Daniel cut her off. "No, Sam's taking maternity leave. In fact, why don't you get home and put your feet up. I'll explain everything to the general."
Sam sighed and submitted, "Thanks Daniel. But remember, no one can know its Jack's."
Sam got home quickly; eating lunch with the guys had quickly nauseated her. She walked in the door, left her purse on the table, and walked into the kitchen. Awaiting her were three messages, two were from Daniel. Why is he so paranoid, Sam thought to herself. At least he's here, she listened to his message.
The other message though was from the guy at the coffee shop she'd given her number to. She got coffee there every Tuesday and he was always there, watching her. She thought it was cute, him watching her drink her coffee from behind the counter. For the first time it hit her, he's the owner. Sam felt kind of horrible, he'd been giving her free coffee for the past month and she didn't even know his name. "Hey Sam," the message rang in, "it's Lucas Gerald. You know the guy from the coffee shop you stop at every Tuesday. I would like to treat you to dinner, or any other meal you feel like eating with me. Call me back, or wait until next Tuesday and we can talk then. Bye."
Sam thought about it a minute, she had already rebounded off Jack, but was she really ready for another relationship? She picked up the phone and dialed Lucas' number. They talked for a few minutes and Sam suggested dinner at her place, "tonight?"
"Um, okay. I'll cook you dinner." Lucas had no idea how much it meant to Sam that he didn't want to order pizza. "I'll be there in about an hour." The phone went dead on the other end. Sam hung up, hoping that maybe Lucas would be okay with her being pregnant. And maybe, just maybe he would be able to heal her.
