Danny Quinn sat by the grey pillar in the dungeon reminiscent room. He was utterly exhausted. 'Matt', whoever that guy was, had shot him. Danny didn't necessarily blame him but all the same the shot had hurt a lot even on the lowest setting. He almost pitied the creatures.
He watched Connor and Abby closely, curiously analysing the developments. Connor had changed a lot in a year; his survival instinct was just as clear as his love for Abby. The boy obviously adored her - it didn't take a genius to notice that. Abby being the most practical out of the two had hardly changed and was harder to read. As usual Danny couldn't quite work out where they stood in relationship terms.
"So...did you two ever - ?" he began finishing the question with a whistle to indicate his point.
An awkward but brief silence ensued. Becker joined the group by the anomaly.
"Abby you're needed over here pronto." he called.
She got to her feet glad of the distraction. She glanced at Danny and then Connor.
I shouldn't be embarrassed about my boyfriend she thought to herself.
"Connor?" she said.
"Yup?" he replied casually, standing up to face her.
Abby leant forward and kissed him. It was quick, but still passionate.
"Don't go dying on me." she warned.
With that she turned and ran off with a bemused Becker.
"You too!" Connor reminded her.
He sat back down by his little locking mechanism still slightly dazed. Sometimes he couldn't believe that he'd got off with 'the hot blonde'.
Danny Quinn smiled. That was one way to answer his question.
Well it's about time! he decided.
