A/N: RAWR! I don't own The Land Before Time – Universal does.
Well, guess who was dumb enough to watch most of the infamous Marble Hornets videos right before they were suppose to go to bed?
Let me ask you something, does spawning a story of a pairing I want to write for but previously couldn't think up a story of from my own stupidity make me a real writer, or just a smeg head?
Scary Stories
Chomper was awakened when he heard a strange noise coming from in the cave. It sounded almost like a whimper, but it hadn't been him. And it couldn't be Ruby – she was always really brave! Still, he better go check it out. He heard the noise again, and followed it to…
"Ruby?" he asked, surprised. She seemed upset. Not unhappy-upset, though: scared-upset. That didn't seem right at all. Every time she told a scary story she was always really calm about it and while everyone else got all worked up she'd laugh it off and explain it. But here she was – crying.
"Ch-Chomper?" Ruby choked. She looked up at him and wow, she wasn't scared, he realised. She was terrified!
"What's wrong?" Chomper asked. He couldn't really think of a time he'd seen her scared like this. "It isn't that scary story Mr Thicknose told us, is it?"
She didn't really need to answer the question. That story was terrifying. Actually, Chomper was glad to be awake. He'd been having a scary sleep story before he'd been woken up. Even though he couldn't remember what.
"Yeah… it scared me, too."
"That's not helping," Ruby whimpered. Her voice was breaking pretty badly.
Chomper wasn't sure how to react. Ruby didn't get scared. The idea that she could get scared still seemed so wrong to him that all he could do was stand there feeling awkward. Eventually he sat down next to her and put his arms around her neck in an awkward hug. There was something awkward but comfortable about the short time that passed between them as Ruby began to feel better and the terrified whimpers faded into silence.
"Thanks," she whispered before finally drifting off to sleep.
