The Trouble With Time
Disclaimer- Not mine unfortunately, just something that's been hanging about on my lap top for a while.
This is the Ninth Doctor (and Rose and Jack)
****
The Doctor strolled along the passageway leading to Rose's flat. Just wait until he told Rose and Jack that he'd sorted all that mess out back at Yujhy*3.
'Course they wouldn't be happy that he'd left in the Tardis after he'd sort of promised not to. But really, where was the harm? He'd only been gone an hour at the most and he'd saved them all the hassle of revisiting that dreadful planet.
Besides he just didn't want to stay for tea with Jackie and the family. It was her birthday. So what? He really didn't care and didn't have the time or inclination to pretend that he did. And anyway he was sure that Jack would entertain the family enough for them to not notice his absence.
Nearing the door he paused when he heard raised voices, frowning when he identified both Jack and Jackie's. Ok so maybe he'd overestimated Jack's charm. He peered through the small kitchen window.
"You can't keep hanging around and waiting for him to show up and save the day. He's obviously not going to, is he? So you have to make sure she keeps up with her physio. She can't do it herself Jackie." Jack finally said determinedly.
"Look she's my daughter-"
"Exactly. She should be a bit more important than meeting one of your fancymen." He all but snarled at her.
"How dare you!" Jackie yelled, furiously.
"Oh for God sake what are you two arguing about now?"
The Doctor heard Rose's exasperated voice but couldn't see her.
Then he did. And wished he hadn't.
Rose was in a wheelchair.
Rose was in a wheelchair?!
"Rose! Hello gorgeous!" Jack exclaimed, sweeping down for a possessive kiss. "Miss me?"
"All day." She answered, grinning at him lovingly. "Did you get it?"
His face fell.
"No. But there's another contact so I'm going to see him first thing tomorrow-"
"Jack. Stop worying." She interrupted. "If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't...then it wasn't meant to. Just give me another kiss, yeah?"
He grinned, but even from where he stood the Doctor could see that he was still worried. He kissed Rose, hard and passionate. She grinned into the kiss and when he pulled away she laughed.
"Love the way you kiss" She said smiling at him affectionately.
"Love you." He countered with another quick kiss. "But I'm still going to see that contact tomorrow."
"Didn't think for one second you wouldn't. Now what were you two fighting about? Not me again, I hope?"
Jack glanced at Jackie, who smiled falsely.
"'Course not love!" Her mum lied, cheerfully. "You know what we're like. Argue about anything us!"
Clearly skeptical but willing to let it lie, Rose smiled. "Yeah."
"So what have you been up to tod-" Jack broke off, eyes widening. Shit.
He'd spotted him. Bugger. And by the look on his face he wasn't exactly happy to see him.
Before he could flee (which he would never do. Time Lords did not flee from their companions), come up with some kind of excuse (which was much more likely) or really do much at all, the door had been flung open and he recieved a fist right on his jaw. Rocking back on his feet he almost went down but managed to stop himself just in time.
"You bastard!" Jack spat. "How dare you come back now!"
The Doctor floundered for something to say. Still not really understanding what was going on. And more worryingly, starting to doubt that he wanted to know what was going on.
"Jack!" Rose's voice cut across firmly.
The Doctor looked down at her, speechless. She smiled, gently.
"Check your watch again Doctor." She suggested kindly.
With dawning horror he looked down at his watch.
Damn.

Should I continue? Or leave it as a one shot? It's been ages since I've written anything...does it suck? I'm sorry if it sucks!
