The faint smell of metal and copper had stirred him back into consciousness. With the awareness coming back to his body, his nervous system, his mind, the brutality of yesterday came rushing back in full speed. He inhaled sharply as every single part of his being seemed to throb and ache in unison. Fresh blood trickled down his bruised lips when he bit down on them in an attempt to take his mind off the pain. He quickly removed his teeth with a hiss. Inwardly, he cursed to himself but the mental words felt foggy as more images and inquiries clouded his head. There was one thought that rushed past about dragging himself off the cold damp floor and finding a way to break out of this hell hole. He breathed harshly. But there was no point in trying that. No doubt the place was lined with D-chips which where rather unnecessary due to the current circumstances.
Would you still love me if you knew?
John chuckled, a few coughs interrupting his laugh. No wonder everyone had went against his orders. No wonder he was no longer the leader. No wonder he had lost Roger's trust. No wonder why he was nothing but another useless pawn checked off of Ultra's chess game.
Would you still find worth in me?
His blue eyes squinted in the darkness. He didn't want to think too much about any of that, it only further proved his worthlessness. He couldn't do anything but lie there and let realization swirl around. Out of all of the things floating within him, the ones involving her stood out the most. And he wished they hadn't.

The reason they had found each other, the reason they had found love, had now shattered and been stolen from him. It had brought them closer together, exploring their powers, besting each other in a different ability, training each other, helping each other, loving each other. It hurt. It hurt to think. He just wanted to stop thinking. But he couldn't.
What would you think of me now that that's gone?
"Cara."

"Can you hear me?"
The whispered words were answered with silence.
A.N- Feel like this came out kinda weird. Truth be told, I don't like John and Cara together but I have to admit there relationship seems strong.
