My mum came home from work and caught me playing my electric guitar last night. She got mad. Like... really mad.
She 'confiscated' it. I don't know where it could possibly be considering our house is quite large and I have a sinking suspicion that I won't be seeing it anytime soon.
Let me explain. The guitar, apart fromthe incredibly large sum of money given to my mum and me, is the only thing I have of my father's, before he left us forever in favor of his music career - when I was three months old.
I love music, especially playing it. I guess I get it from my dad. But my mum hates seeing or hearing me playing, it reminds her too much of him. So playing music is forbidden in my house - unless it's online or on the radio.
Now while I don't want to be the asshole that was my dad - I really want to have a career in music. And to get noticed you have to keep practicing and take part in competitions or something to out yourself out there.
It's a bit hard when you have school and a secret double life as a Parisian superhero on top of that - plus the fact that I'd never be allowed to participate in a music show ever. Like ever.
But recently my best friend Tony invited me to a local teen club downtown - 'La Lampe Électrique' - to see this girl who always sings karaoke some nights called Caterina. Maybe I can go down there and play and get noticed too.
But never mind that now, I have patrol with Luna in 5 minutes!
The nightly patrol around the east side of Paris with Luna didn't take very long and, after quickly meeting with the other Miraculous superheroes who patrol and keep the west side of Paris safe, we all left to go back to our daily lives.
After sneaking down the stairs and out the door, quietly closing my large coal black front door with a small snap, I scour my outside surroundings in search of my best friend.
I finally spot Tony, who has leant back onto the wall of my house, practically invisible and completely masked by shadows, giving him a silent nod in greeting when he looks up from his phone and spots me.
I'm surprised Tony didn't question why I couldn't meet him until this late in the evening, but then again he probably thinks that I've had to sneak out past my mum again - not a complete lie.
I feel bad about Tony lying and telling his parents that he's sleeping round mine instead of going downtown - because whilst they didn't really want him going to the club, Alya and Nino were both great parents who encouraged both Tony and his twin sister Lola to pursue whatever they wanted in life. They were both better than my parents to say the very least.
We both got in his bright red car - I mean, I could've used my own, but nevermind - and began the short drive to La Lampe Électrique, Tony gushing all the way down there about how good of a singer this girl apparently was - at least, according to most of the jocks at our school.
