Dependent

Never ever had he realized how dependent he was on his family. He always put on the 'tough guy' act, burying his feelings and focusing on his work.

His mom died when he was young so it never really affected him in a tremendous way. When his dad died he spent day and night working on his precious Impala, hoping to salvage his father's memory.

But when Sam was gone a whole new emptiness filled him. Almost like his heart was hollow. He hadn't only lost his brother; he had also lost his friend, his partner, his only real family left.

As she wrapped his arms around him, he glanced through his memories remembering every moment he ever shared with his brother.

"Ssh Dean," she cooed, "Everything is going to be alright. We'll work through this together."

His arms tightened around her waist, holding her as if he might never let go.

"Thank-you Lis," he whispered into her shoulder.

"We're family, never thank me," she said pulling back, just enough to see a stray tear break through the barrier he had tried to form in front of his eyes.

She wiped it away, "Family stick together no matter what. Your not going to face this alone. I promise."

He kissed her forehead, hoping what she was saying would be true.

She stuck to her word. Through every nightmare she held him tight. Through every memory she sat and listened. Every tear he shed, she wiped away. She went through every rough night; she soothed him when the pain was too much to bear.

He finally realized that angels weren't those crappy celestial balls of light that were right now in the middle of a Civil War.

Dean Winchester's real angel was right there with him the whole time, as part of his family. Every time he said it she would stop him but h couldn't help from saying it to himself,

"Thank-you Lisa"
