Regina stared at the text message on her phone in her hand. She tried hard to control the cackles of magic that flew off her as she felt her body shake and tears fall from her face to her nightgown. 8 months ago, she would've never imagined her life -her love life- to have been so... devastating. She wiped her face and got up from the bed, then dug through her nightstand's drawer.
Emma Swan sauntered into her life exactly two and a half years ago and just as easily decided to up and leave.
"How dare she?" Regina snarled quietly as she pulled out what she was looking for.
She quietly made her way past her parents room and went down the grand staircase, crossing the living room and kitchen into the Mills' enormous backyard. Her bare feet padded on the grass as she walked towards her apple tree and the bench underneath where she stopped to sit.
"I didn't want this." Regina said half sobbing, half enraged. She pulled out a cigarette from her pack and lit it, breathing the smoke in as if it were relief in it's physical form. Emma's words ran through her head over an over like a damned scratched cd.
'I know you'll find someone else. I know you can and will.'
The phrase made Regina want to scream and rip something or someone apart. She felt the magic crackle again and took deep breaths to try to calm herself.
If Emma was fine with dropping her like it was hot, then what did it matter to her? She was Regina fucking Mills. Life before the blonde was endless flings with faceless girls so why couldn't she just forget her? Regina knew the answer just like she knew every inch of Emma's body. The answer was that the brunette had gone and fallen deeply in love with her two and a half years ago and had the insane notion that they were soulmates, meant for each other for life.
Regina scoffed and shook her head, "Stupid... Love is weakness." She sighed and took another drag from her cigarette. This was the last time she'd let this happen.
