She bit her lip as she stared at herself in the mirror. Her long golden hair ran down her back and danced along the wooden floor. Her favorite purple dress hung at her shins, exposing her ankles. For the first time in a while, she felt stupid. Dumb. Brainless.
It had started the day before when she had been lazily painting. She had scamped out on the features, which was unlike her. It had turned out horrible, in her opinion. She had crunched the paper into a ball and threw it behind her. It landed about an inch away from Pascal. Rapunzel had taken a breath of frustration before starting again. She sketched a circle, but bit her tongue when she realized how sloppy it was.
She had sat down, no longer in the mood to paint. Her face lit up when she remembered that Mother Gothel had brought her back a new book. She pulled herself up and walked to the other room to get the book. It was an old book, she could tell, but she hadn't read it yet. She flipped through the first few pages but stopped when it talked about Jack Frost.
"Legend has it that this young boy, frozen at the age of 17, has fallen in love only once. With... The tooth fairy," She read aloud. She sighed and collasped onto her bed. Was she not good enough? Rapunzel had always liked the fairy's quirky personallity, but Jack may like it too.
She buried her face into her hands. She didn't want to see her reflection. Rapunzel wasn't one to have low self-esteem that often. But now she felt as if she should crunch and dispose of herself like she did the painting. She heard the shutters open but she didn't lift her head. She didn't even respond to the cold breeze that gently tugged at her hair.
"What's wrong, Punzie?" She looked up at the winter spirit himself. Tears welled up in her eyes and she looked away. Jack gently put his hand ontop of hers.
"Don't tell me that Pitch is back," He said when he saw her serious and miserable face. She lifted her head and looked into his sky blue eyes. A tear rolled down her face even as she shook her head. Rapunzel simply got to her feet and looked at the glass reflection again. This time, Jack stood behind her.
"Oh, Punzie," He sighed as he walked closer. She knew he was smart, but this surprised her. He turned her around to meet his gaze.
"You will always be beautiful in my eyes."
"Y-You think so?" She asked with a sniffle. He nodded and embraced her. His cold skin was comforting, and being in his arms made her blush. Jack smirked when he saw the redness spread over her face.
"Always," He whispered before he leanned forward and pressed his cold lips against her pink ones. She was surprised at first. The winter spirit had never kissed her before. But after a moment, she returned the kiss. Jack pulled away, but kept her close. He didn't want to let go of her. And he wouldn't. Ever.
Author's Note: So... is it alright? It was rushed, but I am still pretty proud of it. ;) Please review!
