She just laid there. Her beauty seeming to cause the entire room to glow. The long fountain of auburn hair was fanned out across the pillow, it glimmering slightly in the moonlight.
She rolled over in her sleep, her full pink lips parted slightly. Harry didn't understand how he felt such a tie to this one girl. Alaina was different. She didn't even care about the strange looks she got when she voiced her opinions.
She comforted Harry, because she knew what he was going through. She too had lost so much. It wasn't fair.
All he wanted to do at that moment was push aside all worries and just fall for her. But it won't be that easy. He would have to cut off all bad feelings about it and just let himself love.
Harry wanted to, but he wouldn't be good enough for her. He was wanted by Voldemort, the darkest wizard of all time. Not to mention he had a knack for getting into sticky situations. And now the Horcrux weight was just added...
But, yet, Harry just couldn't bring himself to give up on Alaina. She needed help, protection, friendship... Love.
Alaina needed love more than anything. The only love that she had known was severed by the cruel blade of death. Harry felt his heart twist in anguish whenever he thought of the poor girl in pain.
He stood to leave the common room whenever a voice called his name.
"Harry."
It was so clear and crisp, like biting into a fresh apple. His name fell easily from her tongue.
"Harry," she whispered again, in her sleep, rolling over, "Don't leave."
Harry couldn't help but chuckle slightly at the though if that.
"I... I love you," she whispered, "Love you, Harry. Please..."
His heart just increased its beats by a million. She loves him. She loves him. Alaina Dumbledore loves him.
Harry smiled so wide, he thought his face would crack. He sat back down.
"I won't leave you, Laina," he promised, "I swear."
She sighed contently in her sleep then smiled slightly. Harry reached out and stroked her porcelain face with his hand.
"Beautiful Alaina," he murmured before giving the sleeping girl a kiss on the forehead.
Harry leaned back in his seat, his heart considerably lighter than it had been in quite some time. He closed his eyes and the let the sleep drift onto him, like a much awaited snowfall.
Whadya think? Let me know! In review form... hehehe.
