A/N: This one's for Gretchen. "Good" is such a horribly changeable term, but I'm sure that she was.
"Do something good and name it after me."
/ Gretchen Alison Carlyle
It shines
like nothing else;
you'd swear it's made
of Heaven.
The Hearts of
a Man,
the Melody of a
Song, a thousand singing
Towers are competition
most fierce –
alas, less.
A lifeforce:
River running beneath
the surface,
essential as blood and
even more lovely,
its luminescence
transcends such mundane barriers
as Rage and Fury and the
haze of Wrath and Revenge.
One needs not
to be Good
(such a damned word,
that is – so relative)
to know that this,
this lustrous thing,
is what Beauty,
Divinity,
and Hatred
Become,
You know,
in the
End,
in the void of After,
in reverent Heaven…
And its Name,
self-sacrificial and so, so
worthy,
is Gretchen.
