Just a short one-shot that popped into my head. The title is based on the song "Wrapped" by Gloria Estefan. Special thanks to my great beta reader MrsPenelopeMorgan!
Penelope hurriedly walked into her apartment and closed the door behind her. She leaned against the door and closed her eyes as the suppressed tears quietly began to slide down her face.
"Penelope?" Said a soft, worried voice she easily recognized.
Opening her eyes she saw Morgan standing in front of her only a few feet away. She stared at him for a second with tears still streaming down her face and just when it looked like he was about to say something she pushed off from the door and rushed over to him. He caught her as she flung her arms around his torso and buried her face in his chest.
More tears escaped as she felt him wrap his strong arms around her, completely engulfing her and cutting her off from the outside world.
"Shhh, it's okay, Baby Girl I got you." He whispered in her ear as he kissed the top of her head. "I'm here Penelope." He repeated and she let a soft cry escape her lips as he tightened his hold around her and pulled her closer.
Standing there wrapped in his arms she felt his warmth and comfort relax her tense muscles and soothe her nerves. Slowly her tears began to subside, but she clung to him tighter afraid if she let go he would disappear and take away the protection that his embrace offered.
After a minute or so she felt him pull away just enough to look into her eyes. He brought a hand up to cup her face and gently wiped away a stray tear with his thumb, all the while keeping her pulled against him with one arm still encircling her.
"I love you Penelope." He said quietly before leaning in and kissing her gently on the lips.
When he pulled away she rested her head against his shoulder and buried her face in his neck. "I love you too Derek." She said and held on to him tighter. He continued to hold her against him whispering comfortingly to her as he rested his head against hers.
She smiled faintly relishing the feel of his strong arms around her; protecting her from the world, comforting her, erasing all the images and memories that had been tormenting her. His warmth enveloped her and once again she felt complete.
