Emma hunted desperately for flashlights, while Jules tried to keep Tavvy from crying. It had been movie night at the Los Angeles Institute, when unexpectedly the power went out. It had been Ty's turn to pick what they watched. He had chosen Sherlock, for what had to be the billionth time. Mark had left, complaining about how he had already seen this enough to quote the episodes. Lately, Mark had become more and more irritable. Emma still jumped at certain scenes, despite knowing the episodes so well. She had to admit it was a good show. She had laughed when Livvy spilled the popcorn, and Jules had to pick it up. They were up to a critical moment, when the lights started to flicker. They all looked around curiously. California was accustomed to earthquakes, and the power rarely went out. The images on the televisions grew hazy, and then disappeared all together, much to Ty's disappointment. Emma and Jules made eye-contact and silently worked out a plan. Emma would go look for flashlights, while Jules took care of the younger kids. Emma heard the sound of Jules comforting his younger siblings, and taking them to bed fade as she went downstairs to look for more flashlights. Emma bumped into a large object. She looked around wondering what it was, but the object seemed to have disappeared. "You aren't going to find any flashlights down here," she heard a deep voice say, coming from behind her. She turned to see where the voice was coming from. She shone her flashlight behind her, to see Mark Blackthorn. "Are you trying to blind me?" he asked, shielding his eyes. She thought of apologizing, but he wasn't worth it. She walked upstairs to continue her search. When she reached the top of the stairs, she paused, seeing the lights begin to flicker back on. The T.V. slowly switched back to the scene of Sherlock and Moriarty that it had been stopped at. She looked to tell the others, but they had already gone to bed. Seeing as movie night was over, she turned the T.V. off and walked upstairs. She quickly checked in on, Dru and Tavvy's room, making sure they were okay. She smiled, seeing both of their sleeping faces. Then she walked into Julian's room. He had left one side of the bed empty as he did for her. She would often come in in the middle of the night after having a nightmare about her parents or dreams where all she could see was fire for miles and miles. A fire that took everything and everyone she cared about with it. He would always be there to comfort her after her nightmares, and help her fall back to sleep. He'd never know how grateful she was for that, for him, but that could be made known to him on another day. For now all she wanted was sleep. She settled down on her side of the bed, and Jules's arms wrapped her automatically. "Aren't we forever?" he had once asked her. Even then she had known, they would be forever.
