A/N: Just a little episode companion to Heroes. Can you tell I was feeling creative with the title:P Takes place before the last scene of the episode, before the team gets together at the diner. I thought the episode needed some more D/L. ;)
Spoilers: Episode 2x23, "Heroes"
Disclaimer: CSI: NY is the property of CBS Corporation. I do not own any of the characters, just my imagination. :)

"Yeah. Messer."
Lindsay glanced at Danny across the break room, on his cell phone.
"You got him? Stell, you really got him?" He breathed a sigh of relief. "We got him. Thanks, Stella." Danny snapped his cell phone shut.
"They got him. They got the son of a bitch who killed Aiden."
"D.J. Pratt?" Lindsay asked, taking a sip of her coffee.
Danny nodded. He leaned his forearms on the table, across from Lindsay. He ran his hands through his hair and across his face and looked up at Lindsay, practically grinning. "Thank you, Montana."
"I didn't do anything, Danny," she said softly. "Aiden left us all the evidence we needed."
"No, no, you did, you did do something. You didn't know Aiden, but you did everything you could to catch that son of a bitch Pratt. Thank you."
Lindsay glanced at him, and her heart clenched when she saw tears in his eyes. "Danny…"
She stood next to him, put her hand on his arm. Danny shook his head. "I still can't believe she's gone, Lindsay. I mean, Aiden—she was…she was always there, y'know? She was my best friend. And now…now she's gone? I just…I don't know, Linds, I don't know."
Lindsay put her hand behind Danny's head and made him look at her. "Danny. There's nothing you could've done. I didn't know Aiden, but I don't think she'd want you to remember her like that." She motioned toward the lab, toward what remained of Aiden in the coroner's office. "Not as a victim. She was a hero, Danny."
Tears spilled down Danny's cheeks. Lindsay wrapped her arm around him and pulled him into a hug. "Yeah. Yeah, she was, Montana," he said.

A/N: Short and sweet, hope you liked it. Now that I've got that out of my head, I hope to have another chapter for "I Will Be There For You" done and uploaded soon. :)
