"First Comes Too Late"
Rin was shaking her head, not wanting to hear the words Archer was trying to tell her. She refused to look into his eyes even has his strong hands gripped her shoulders. She knew, she knew perfectly well everything he was telling her, she didn't have to listen.
But she knew that simply knowing wasn't enough; she needed to believe the words.
His lips crushed against hers, taking her by surprise. She squeezed her eyes shut, kissing him back with as much passion as she could muster, dying inside as their tongues slid against each other's, both not wanting to part for breath. She clawed at his chest, fisting the red of his coat in her hands as his hands slid down her sides to draw her close.
It was he who drew back first, and she finally looked into his eyes. They were sad, and he wasn't supposed to look like that, that wasn't how Archer looked, that was how-
She opened her eyes, cheeks and pillow case stained with tears.
There was a knock on her door. "Rin? We need to leave now," Shiro's voice explained softly. Last night had been hard on all of them, but Shiro knew he didn't have the words to console the prideful magus over the loss of her Servant.
