"Speech! Speech!" Someone called out. "TK! Speech!" Yolei said, pulling her friend off the couch by his arm. "Um, Ok. I just want to say that, um... this has been the best year of my life. I am deeply in love, and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for being there." TK sat back down as the clapping begun. He put his arm around his fiancé. "Let the lady talk!" Davis called. "Davis. Shut your hole." Cody said, surprising everyone around him. "I just want to say thanks, too, and that I hope that next year is as promising as this one!" TK's fiancé sat back down. "Good speech, Kari." TK teased as he nuzzled his head in Kari's hair. "Yeah, Mr Novelist is a concise speaker!" Kari retorted, smiling at her one true love. "Kiss!" Tai yelled. "Excuse me?" TK and Kari said in unison. "Kiss, damn it!" TK turned to Kari and kissed her. Kari wrapped her arms around TK's neck and they shared a passionate moment. They heard whimpering. "Davis... get over it." Matt sighed. "How old are you? 26? Act like it, dude."
After the crowd of friends and family cleared, TK and Kari sat on the couch. They weren't talking, but this was the kind of silence that said it all. TK put his arm around Kari's shoulders and she leaned into him. Kari sighed contentedly. "You can't keep your hands off of her for one minute, can you, TK?" Tai leaned against the doorframe with his arms crossed and an evil grin on his face. "Tai, I think your hair is drooping." Kari said. "Ahhh! Oh no! I knew I shouldn't have cut it!" Tai fled to the bathroom. "Ah. One year with the greatest person on the face of the planet." Kari poked him in the side. "What do you mean, 'face' of the planet. If there was a girl greater than me who lived inside the earth, would you choose her over me?" She teased. "Oops. I sit corrected. The greatest person in the entire space/time continuum. And the galaxy, universe... I don't know what's bigger than the universe." TK grinned and got up. "Excuse me for a moment." TK walked over to his jacket, where he pulled something from the pocket. Kari couldn't see what it was. "What's that?" she asked. "You'll find out soon enough." TK said. He resumed his position next to Kari. After a while of watching TV, good programs had run out and the couple was sitting on the couch in each other's arms. TK got up again. What is it this time? Kari wondered. TK got on his knees. "Lose something?" she asked. "Yep. A contact lens." Kari stifled a laugh. "You don't wear contacts, TK." "Oh. Yeah. Hmm." TK scratched his head. "What else could I do while I'm down here? Oh, yes. I have an idea." TK pulled a box from his pocket, got up on one knee, flipped open the box and took Kari's hand. "Kari, the love of my life and the bringer of all good in the world, will you marry me?" Kari gasped. The ring was gorgeous. A delicate gold band studded with diamonds and amethyst. "TK... I... don't know what to say!" Kari was at a loss for words. "How about yes?" TK said softly. Kari threw her arms around TK. "Yes! Yes!" she cried, tears running down her cheeks. TK sat Kari back on the couch and slipped the ring on her finger. He pulled her in close for a passionate kiss. "Hey." They heard. They turned and saw Tai, once again, leaning on the doorframe. "What'd I miss?"
"Oh my god, Kari! That's gorgeous!" Yolei exclaimed. "And what a romantic way to propose!" Mimi said. Kari admired the ring. Her wedding was set for the next month, and she had lots to do. "I guess I just have a weakness for the hopeful romantic type." Kari said with a smile.
